Love the looks, feel, weight, and sound of this Les Paul. Full bodied guitar and no need to swap pickups out, this will not let you forget your Gibby's, but close, real close...

great les paul , it has very nice tone , i also have a gibson les paul standard , side by side playing they are equal , but (why i dont know ) i keep playing the epiphone classic lp more . She weighs in at 8 pounds 15 ounces,
, the epi has a nicer jazz tone , but both do rock very well .

Epiphone has really upped it's game the last few years. This series of "Inspired by Gibson" guitars are a prime example. I've recently bought 4 axes from this line-up (ES-335, LPs, SG) and every one of them looks gorgeous, sets up perfectly, and feels and sounds like a guitar 2-3 times the price. I play them more than my Gibbies, lately. I bought them all online at L&M and they arrived quickly and in tip-top shape. Highly recommended.

As my first electric guitar, which I've had for about a week, I have to say I'm impressed. After trying out several other Epiphone products, I decided on the Classic due to it's coil splitting abilities, giving it more tone versatility. The guitar sounds great, both using the Humbuckers and the split coil. I don;t have a fancy amp, just a smaller one, and it sounds excellent even through that. I've played a few Gibson Les Paul's over the past few years, and can say say that this is just as good, and almost impossible to tell apart, save the head stock, from it's Gibson counterparts. I would recommend this guitar to anyone, as it has good quality features, and is at the sweet point for price.

I ordered this thinking it was going to be nice. It arrived at my local L&M.
Upon first looking at it, it has sort of a dusty purple burst. By dusty, I mean it’s not shiny, it’s not worn looking, it’s dusty almost chalky looking. Then upon closer inspection, it had what looked like pitted grain marks running down the body. I researched this guitar later and learned that this wood does not have pitted grain and would never wear like this. Plus I learned that the electronics are very low end, with tiny pots and cheap humbuckers.
I just couldn’t bare to keep this guitar. I told the sales guy I didn’t want it and pointed out it’s flaws.
How could Epiphone do this?? It is honestly sub par craftsmanship. Even the binding was uneven and just over all a mess.
For $100 more I bought the classic with a glossy coat and probucker pickups and better full sized volume tone pots which are push-pull pots for all 4 knobs tapping and phazing.
No I would not recommend the worn! Pay the extra $100 and get a fabulous finish and pro electronics.

So, I've owned this guitar for 2 days now, and have spent a bit of time with it, so I will give this review mostly on first impressions, and I'll stick to the format of the rating this site uses.
Features: It's a Les Paul Classic, it comes with what you'd expect a Classic to have.
Quality: Here I came across a few flaws, but nothing that really tarnishes this guitar. The paint on the back where the cutaway is in the body under the neck has a misses spot, but since it is just wood color, it's not really a big deal (I saw online some video reviews of the Goldtop, and they all seem to have this issue, the Cherry burst at the store did not have this problem). Frets are great, smooth as butter, and knobs feel good. The matte (worn) paint tends to show imperfections in the wood a bit more than its glossy cousin would, but it fits the look (also not as noticeable on the Cherry).
Value: If you want a solid Les Paul under $1000 without any bells and whistles, this is it right here. Couldn't be happier with it. Sounds and plays great out of the box (could use a setup though).
Overall: Great guitar for a very reasonable price. It looks awesome, the zebra pickups look so cool. Plays great, and honestly, get the extended warranty for the free setup if anything. Awesome purchase for someone getting into playing, or someone stepping up in quality of their gear.

Its not a Custom shop Gibson, but it plays fantastic, sounds great, nice low end chugs. The hum while using the coil split is quite loud when using high gain, but its tolerable at overdrive and crunch levels. the clean sounds beautiful, crisp, even with the coil split. Also the zebra style pickup are a nice touch.
the finish is awesome. The matte finish is so nice on the neck, my other Epi les paul (studio with a high gloss finish) is so slow and prone to suctioning my hand to the neck at the first hint of moisture, whereas the matte finish just soars.
All in all, a beautiful and perfectly serviceable guitar for a very handsome price.
If you know a luthier, a bit of work on the frets and this guitar would be top notch.
100% I would recommend.

Love the feel of the finish. Neck feels awesome! Fretwork good but not great. disappointed that the pots are not the CTS pots you get with the Classic but they feel okay. Pickups get you the classic les paul tones out of this guitar, 3way switch feels cheap but tuners and nut are quality! Fretboard is nice! A nice guitar with good bones for mods!
I'm planning on doing.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
