Toby Standard IV
Epiphone is proud to reintroduce the classic bass that players have been waiting for, the Toby Standard IV. Michael Tobias' "Toby" basses were first introduced in the 1990s and brought real innovation to bassists hungry for an instrument that reflected modern playing styles. And now, Epiphone and Tobias team up again to bring back this classic design, once again putting cutting edge sounds and designs in the hands of all musicians.

Cutting Edge Design
The Toby Standard IV features a solid basswood body and a flush-mount, low profile, adjustable bridge. The Toby Standard's most legendary feature is the Tobias Asymmetrical Neck profile, a bolt-on design with recessed bolts and washers for easy adjustments. Tobias basses were among the first to feature an asymmetrical neck, a design where the neck is thinner on the lower side than on the upper side. The asymmetric shape feels less bulky than standard bass necks allowing for maximum hand comfort. While these satin necks might "feel" thinner, there is still sufficient thickness on the upper side to provide excellent strength, stability andbest of alldeep, rich tone. Your thumb will find easy reference as your hand glides up and down the fretboard. The neck has a 34" scale length for enhanced clarity, a rosewood fingerboard with a 12" fingerboard radius, and 1.68" nut. Premium die-cast tuners are used for tuning stability. Color finishes include Alpine White and Ebony.

Classic Electronics
The Toby Standard IV's electronics feature classic Tobias-designed pickups with a Tobias TBR single coil in the neck and a Tobias TBT single coil at the bridge. Controls include black, knurled all-metal knobs for Master Volume, Pickup Blend, Neck EQ and Bridge EQ. The bridge is flush-mounted for a low profile and is fully adjustable.

As a pour musician who does not have a big budget for fender and such gear this bass is a doozy. Light and small body yet powefull and clean tone. Tune holds for phenomenal amounts of time. Very easily carried and renewed (string changes and retuning takes half hour at most). A very good bass that frees from huge jazz basses while still delivering the tone. Price is great.

Started off with this bass and i can't say it hasnt been a great instrument. Other than the strap pegs coming loose you should have no problem with it whatsoever.

Just purchased this bass. I'm a novice at best but i have been playing with a pretty old bass up until now and this is quite the improvement. Feels solid in your hands and looks pretty sharp too!

Overall a decent bass, good sound, good pickups, but both of the screws for the strap locks came loose after about two months, but the biggest problem is the tuning pegs craping out, the one for my e string just broke and now I have to replace the whole tuning mechanism for the e, and there are signs that the others will follow that too.

This was my first bass, I was quite impressed with it, great value for the price, only problem was that both the screws holding the the nobs for the strap came loose, but that was an easy fix, I just had to use some longer screws, (the ones it came with were too short)

I had never played bass before I bought this guitar, all I was looking for was somsomething cheap. I bought this guitar with little hopes and it surpassed them all, I have had this guitar for almost two years now and I have no complaints at all.

The bottom strap button is in the ideal position - it is frustrating that more basses do not come with this. It is very bright sounding. Like all bolt-ons, the heel starts to get in the way of the last frets but they are still 'reachable' at the 24th. And 24 frets is a good thing. The cutaway is nice. The one I tried could use some set up love, action was too high; but it looked like it would accept some adjustments easy enough (just adjusting the saddles would probably do). The threaded posts for the saddles are recessed, so if you want to palm mute with a pick you will not tear up your hand.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
