I bought this guitar about a month ago and right away thought "wow". It is stunning to look at and I love the sounds I get from it. The neck is thick, but I find it fits naturally in my hand and is still comfortable after an hour or two of playing.
This is a guitar I really enjoy playing; It is one I will hold on to until the end.

Update to my review below, 6 months in and I am still "very impressed". Maybe more so then when I bought it last July 2021. This guitar needs nothing changed! No new pick ups, controls, nut tuners.......All the right stuff right out of the box. Not my first LP Standard but the first one that I will certainly not need to modify. I will say that what prevents straight 5s across the board is the the saddles fall off if you break a string....High E broke, saddle fell to the ground and bounced. This had me on my knees searching under monitors. Good thing is I almost NEVER break strings. This guitar with GHS Boomer 10/46.....Sound fantastic! L&M after sales service is 100%! They get it!

I have been waiting to figure out what guitar I was really looking for, always came back to a Les Paul. 50's AAA version seem to "check all the boxes". I must admit I do not understand the AAA vs. AA tops??? I tried a 60's with a wild looking top (AA), I have the AAA and it seems more subtle as "flame tops" go. Not a real big deal because the guitar is great on so many levels....The guys at L&M Ottawa are, as usual, fantastic to deal with. Shout out to Matt, Andrew and all the great folks at L&M Ottawa & Kanata! Feels great playing my new Les Paul.

I have had this for a few weeks now and just can’t stop playing it. Just a fantastic guitar from Gibson. And it played great right out of the box. Action is spot on, intonation great, sounds beautiful. And the AAA Iced Tea burst top is stunning!! If Gibson has been having quality issues there are certainly no signs of it here. I can’t find a single manufacturer flaw. It’s perfect. If you’re shopping for one, get it before they’re gone. You will not regret it. And a big shout out to Rory at the Mississauga location. A great guy to deal with.

Every now and then you come across a guitar that stuns you. That guitar that you can't live without. This is that guitar for me. It's a 50's Les Paul in 2020. The attention to detail has returned with Gibson. The AAA flame top is stunning. The 50's appointments are outstanding. The quality of the entire package is out of this world. I sold 2 beloved guitars to get this one and I don't regret my decision in the slightest. It may seem like a nice chunk of change (and it is), but believe me...you won't regret your decision. Go and get yours today before they fly off the shelves. A special thank you to the guys at the Orleans location (especially Patrick). You guys are amazing.

Got mine from London South from the North store. The top on mine is one of the best tops I've ever seen on any Les Paul from any era, and I've looked around. The guys in London are super helpful and really helped me through a long and picky buying process. Find a top you like and don't hesitate, this is one of the best Les Pauls you can get, period.

I’ve had mine for three weeks now and it’s absolutely beautiful. It’s everything that a Gibson Les Paul should be and more. The AAA top is incredible and the neck is like butter. Gibson has made this guitar to perfection. Don’t wait any more...just go buy your dream guitar. Big thank-you to Ryan C and M as well as Matt from L&M Kanata. Shopping during Covid-19 is weird at best but Ryan made it simple and great. The picture above does NOT do this guitar justice as it looks nothing like the picture. The Gibson month Ad had a picture of the Iced Tea burst and it’s much better.

I bought my Iced Tea AAA burst 3 days ago and here’s my thoughts First of all, the photo above looks nothing like the actual guitar. The actual guitar is stunningly beautiful and the flamed top is gorgeous. I waited a long time to buy my first LP and this was well worth the wait. My new LP looks amazing and the sound is even better. Gibson has done a wonderful job with their new guitars and I strongly recommend everyone buy one of these works of art! Thank-you to the two Ryan’s at L&M Kanata and to Matt as well. They are professional, knowledgeable and just good people at this store. If you don’t shop there...you should.

This guitar checks all the right boxes for me: 50s rounded neck, hand wired, no weight relief and a triple A maple top in my favorite burst, Iced-T. And the intonation was correct. A couple minor complaints: the strap buttons are smaller than other Les Pauls that I own, the strap has already fallen off, and the unwound string saddles on the bridge aren't lined up properly, but these are easily fixable.

This is the one you want. I'm not sure how many will actually find these as it appears they're limited, but this is as close to a custom shop as I've seen a guitar from the Standard range. After having some issues with the "standard" Standard 50s, including having the wrong hardware installed from the factory amongst other irreparable cosmetic issues, I decided to spend the extra few hundred for the "AAA" top version. Personally, I don't really care that much about flame tops and as always YMMV when it comes to that. First of all, I actually thought it was a Cherry Burst based on the photo here, but this limited run is actually Iced Tea and it looks spectacular. Secondly, and much more importantly, the QC and attention to detail on this one vs the first Standard I received is on a whole other level. Absolutely 0 finish issues, gorgeous stain job and for the first time ever, a Gibson with proper intonation right out of the box. The only knock is the dryness of the fret board, but the same could be said for all Gibson's these days and it's nothing a little dunlop oil can't solve. Bottom line: spend the extra $300 if you've got the chance to get this model over the base Standard 50s.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
