Powerful Smart Oscillator
The Lead A1 Synth Engine is renowned for its analog-modelling warmth, and utilises brilliant Smart Oscillator Configurations to deliver stunning results with little programming. There are both Single oscillator setups including Pitch and Shape modes, and Dual oscillator setups including Detune, Sync, Waveform, Bell and Noise Mix modes, FM and Ring Mod. The Synth section also provides 3 Unison modes, without reducing voice polyphony.

The Nord Stage 3's new Oscillator section features 5 oscillator categories: Classic, Wave, Formant, Sample and brand new Super Wave (S-wave).

Two super-clear OLED displays for on-stage clarity, Seamless Transitions when changing programs/sounds, extended Split functionality with optional crossfade, and the addition of the new Song List Mode makes the Nord Stage 3 more intuitive and flexible than ever before for the live performer. The greatly enhanced Piano section features doubled memory (2 GB) for the exclusive Nord Piano Library, 120 voice polyphony and creative new Piano Filters.

The Nord Stage 3 also features the latest award-winning C2D Organ simulations of B3 Tonewheel and Vintage Transistor Organs plus two brand new Principal Pipe Organs. Two different Organ models can be used simultaneously and the updated vintage 122 Rotary Speaker simulation is also available for each slot independently. The Nord Stage 3 Effect section features a brand new Filter Effect, extended morphable parameters, an enhanced Delay effect and a separate Reverb and Compressor for each slot.

Got the Nord Stage 3 88, cost a fortune. I had a Lead A1 in the past, loved it, and wanted the best Nord so I got the Stage 88. Wayne Hunt at the Dartmouth store assured the quality for me completing the exact same background checks on that keyboard that my own due diligence performed. Apparently, many customers don't a "background check" on their pricey online purchases; it wasn't necessary at L&M thanks to the nice work of Wayne who makes sure everything coming from Nord to me is new in the box. So the Nord Stage 3 has exceeded my expectations thus far. I laboured over which Nord to get. Could I get by with a Lead or a Wave? Do I really need organ sounds? Nope, but I got the Stage anyway and the organ sounds, layered on other stuff are amazing. The ease of mixing layers and splitting the keyboard in meaningful ways makes this keyboard an absolute dream to create sounds on. It's absolutely eargasmic. It sounds cliche but this keyboard provides such amazing expression it is unreal. I gave away my old keys, an Alesis QS8.1 that I had for 20 years. In two weeks I understand the Nord better than I did that Alessis after two decades. The QS8.1 had features galore but accessing these features meant diving into submenus, not my idea of a great time. That is not how the Nord Stage 3 works. Stuff is intuitive and original sound development is quick. Sampling is so easy I sampled some spoken word by mistake while "getting ready to sample"; Stewart Copeland of the Police talking about his childhood which, looped on the Nord, sounds awesome. If you can afford this keyboard your ears will thank you for taking the plunge. You may even experience your first eargasm.

It performs and does everything that I saw on YouTube. The synth engine is too complicated for me. I can't criticize it because of that but I wish it was easier. I watched Marc on utube who explains the engines well but I still find it overwhelming. It's gonna take time. But what an amazing keyboard, all in one. POWERFUL!

Ya, sorry. Bought this, and it died (motherboard ruined) when I plugged in a moog expression pedal. Since I bought it online through L&M, my local store seemed angry I hadn't given one of their salesman the commission (I guess?) and wasn't giving me helpful service at all. They, two stores, actually were kind of snubbing me, could've cared less about my 20 day old dead nord, which cost a pile of money. I returned it for my money back. If you go searching nord user sites, you see a litany of physical failures, all quite soon in the life of these stage 3's, across the whole range of the physical keyboard from keys, to buttons, to knobs, to led displays, etc, etc. Seems they had a great software idea,, brilliant actually. They just haven't built a physical product to match it. This board is likely not going to hold up like your other gigging keyboards if you actually use the buttons and knobs a lot. They appear to wear out within a few years and fail. That's unacceptable to someone whose other boards have all lasted a lifetime without any problems. My Stage 3 didn't even make it a month and it was dead.

Response from Long & McQuade

Hi Glen, thanks for the feedback. We're sorry to hear of your experience. We've brought your issue to the Calgary North store to comment on your experience. Just so you know, our sales staff work in a non-commissioned environment.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.

Great Additions
