For how much it costs, this instrument is a must buy. Played many plastics in the past, this Yamaha stands at the top for sound and ease of play. Both the high end and low end notes are sounded with ease. Yes, it is not wood, still, it is doing a mighty fine job of sounding like a wooden instrument. Making practice with it efficient and rewarding.

The sound is as mellow as my pear wood recorder and is easier for me to play because the bottom double hole is spaced a little closer to the next and so my hand feels more comfortable playing middle c
I have been playing the recorder for many years.
