I had been looking at Taylors and Martins along with a couple of Takamine. By chance the associate suggested I give this one a go. To say that I was shocked at how good it felt in hand would be an understatement. The satin finish is outstanding, the neck is super playable and the fit and finish is simply top-notch. I am extremely happy with the overall quality of the product and can't find enough superlatives to express my impressions.
The more I researched about Seagull the more impressed I became with their attention to detail, features and sensible sourcing model for raw materials. When I realized that they are a small bespoke Canadian hand-built guitar maker pushed it over the edge for me as I did appreciate that I could find such a good instrument made right here in our borders.
The slim neck is as good as a Taylor, and the sound is full without being boomy. As time wears on I know that the brightness of the spruce top will mellow somewhat and I look forward to the maturing of the sound as it ages.
The only negative that I can think of is the way the battery for the tuner and amplifier is attached to the inside of the guitar via velcro. This niggling item is the reason for a 4.5 rating for features as I would much prefer a battery mounted with out of body access to change it. It's a bit of a pain to replace, but an inconvenience I am willing to live with when the price of a similar sounding Taylor or Martin was at least double the price of this Seagull.
The gig bag is decent, although I would have preferred one of their TRIC cases,. These are almost impossible to come by so I'll live with the bag until I can get a TRIC. I keep it on the wall spring to fall and in the bag with a humidifier in the winter.
If you are looking for a great mid-range acoustic at beginner prices, this is worth including in your buying decision.

I traded into this gem and couldn't be more pleased with what I ended up with. Sounds bright, clean and projects well unplugged, amped up it really shows it's potential. The only (small) nit that I have to pick is that the G string has a very occasional, very intermittent buzz that I can't seem to totally shake, but given all the pluses I'll take it...

I bought this guitar about a year ago, and I absolutely love playing it. Tried others in the same price range (taylor, simon and patrick, yamaha) but I found this one had the best tone and feel. Can't say enough good things about it. Wasn't even planning on buying a Seagull but it just sounded and felt so much better than the other guitars, and it was under in price range. Also it's canadian made so that's always a plus in my book!

recently decided to go with this model after needing a guitar in a pinch and on a budget. What a find. It plays like $1200 guitar by any of the major brands. The action is so easy to play. It doesn't have the volume of a big dreadnaught so you can't dig in the same way. However what an incredible tone. love it, love it, love it. Couldn't recommend it more for anyone on a budget.

Bought it almost 2 years ago. My dad had always been about expensive, more brand name guitars because of quality and sound (you get what you pay for). I am not a great player so I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on something to use only at home. The sound is amazing and quality is much better than fender, and Gibson guitars under the $1000 price tag. The neck plays surprisingly smooth and fast with the mat finish. My dad was skeptical when he heard I purchased it, but he grabs it every time he comes over.

Had a budget of $1200 for a new guitar, tried some Taylors, Martins, Epiphones and other Seagulls. This was by far the best one. Very clear, loud, easy to play and a lot less expensive. Proves that price and big brand names aren't always better. No regrets what so ever. Love my new Seagull.?

Got this guitar over 10 years ago, logged many hours and stored it properly. Today's sounds just as good if not better when I bought it. Comparable to $800-$1000 acoustics hands down. Great starter guitar that you will never get rid of!

This is a large and deep dreadnought and the sound is boomy and crisp. Great sound and build. I struggle a bit with the depth of the guitar and the narrow neck but the sound of it makes my heart sing!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
