I have been desperate to learn the guitar for a long time. A few years ago I bought a Washburn Lyon guitar at costco...I know some are saying that's the problem right there. I persevered for many years but I was not having fun...everything took a lot of effort. Then a friend said it would be smart to spend a little money and I would not regret it. After lots of research I settled on Seagull. I can't stress what a difference it makes. It sounds great and is a pleasure to play...Barre chord's are now no problem. Just a note about Long and McQuad. I went to a local music store in Hamilton nervously looking at guitars (it's intimidating if you feel like you are not good enough playing to pull a guitar down and play your three chords poorly) nobody came to help me...they were to busy talking about their gig setups. So I left. I went to Long and McQauds in Stoney Creek I was immediately greeted and even though I said I was still learning the sales guy was great...pulled the guitar off the wall and immediately made me feel comfortable. Bought the guitar and gig bag...happily!

This guitar is amazing for the price. Love the slim neck as it makes for a lot easier playing. The sound is great and I absolutely love the build quality. When I was looking for a new guitar I was honestly thinking I would have to spend a lot of money but when I picked this up and played it...I quickly found that in order to match the quality, sound and feel the only rival guitars were 1500$ and up. This guitar in my opinion is awesome and I am very proud that it is made in Canada !!!

Bought this guitar as I wanted to try a cedar Canadian made guitar versus a Spruce. Loved the tone and the overall sound in this guitar. The quality is top notch and I found that the only guitars better were 2500$ and up. You will not be disappointed in this guitar! Its also super comfortable to play as it has a slightly slimmer neck. AAA+ Also, I should add that I am very proud to have it made in Canada and everyone that sees it thinks its absolutely beautiful!

In looking for a new acoustic electric tried many guitars - Taylor, Martin, Takamine, Art and Lutherie and finally settled on the Seagull Entourage Rustic cw. It feels comfortable and has a deep, rich tone, more mellow than bright. It is easy to play, sounds nice strumming or finger picking. I recommend this guitar.

I had about 1000 bucks saved up to buy a guitar. Was considering the usual companies, Martin(DRS-1), Taylor(100 series), and an Epiphone(Hummingbied Pro). Till I saw this one. It wasn't a hard choice to make. The sound is very clear and very easy to play because of the slimmer nut width of the neck. And the smell of the cedar top when I play is also nice. So far I'm very happy with this guitar.

I purchased this guitar in spring of 2012 and It's still perfect. I ordered the gloss top to provide more durability against wear (sides, back and neck are matte). I keep the guitar in a hard case and humidify in winter to prevent possible cracking / damage. The wood is very soft and it can dent quite easily. However, when you take into everything into account: price/playability/sound/build quality, nothing comes close to this Canadian product in my opinion. If you take care of the instrument it will last for years to come and If it does happen break you're not out alot of money. I definitely would buy another Seagull or another product within the Godin line (A&L or S&P).

I've had this guitar for a month, and I still can't get over how sweet it sounds. It's got this beautiful, nicely balanced tone that manages to sound both haunting and uplifting. Sounds really great plugged in as well. Mine was set up really well out of the box and I didn't even take it in for a pro setup as I can't imagine it being any more easier to play. The finish is gorgeous, though I've yet to find out how it would hold up, as I'm being particularly careful with the cedar top. One tiny gripe though - mine came with plastic pins, which stood out like a sore thumb on such a beautiful instrument. I replaced them with ebony pins and immediately noticed better sustain and balance. Overall, a fantastic instrument, and easily the best purchase I've ever made.

I've had my Seagull around six months when it developed a split. The split is under the pick guide but the pick guard is not raised. Dealer sent it to Halifax and now apparently it has THREE cracks. Whoever looked at it Halifax (still need contact info for this person) says it was impact which is nonsense. If Seagull takes care of me promptly, honoring their warrantee I'll redo this review. If they don't there'll be a negative campaign started.

Very simply put, it's a great guitar for the money. Played and sounded well straight from the store, even though the strings at that point were a bit dead. Put on some Elixir phosphor bronze nanoweb coated, now sounds fantastic, very balanced and wonderful tone. Bass not too boomy for a dreadnought. Action is great all the way up the neck. Finish is beautiful, though I didn't give "perfect" as the cedar top is soft and easily scratched/dented, as many others have stated. Although getting war-wounds is really the owner's fault, not Seagull's. Overall construction of the guitar is pretty much flawless inside and out, as far as I can tell. Seagull has done it again!

I actually bought this guitar from Guitarworks in Cross Iron Mills. I have been very pleased with this guitar. The finish is actually the first thing that caught my eye. The pictures don't do it justice. I picked this Seagull because I loved the tone, very warm and bright, and not too twangy. The tone of this guitar sounds very good when strumming, but even better when finger picking. I also bought it because of the cutaway and for the electronics which are built in. I always play this guitar plugged in and it sounds excellent. I did have a few issues after i bought this guitar. It happened twice that a brace popped inside (was covered under warranty). However, this was very much due to the dry weather in Southern Alberta. After being told to humidify it in a case, i have had no more problems. I'm also a little disappointed with how easily the body can be damaged. This is because the wood used is very soft which gives it a very nice tone but consequently makes it easy to ding and scratch. This would definitely not be the best hardcore gigging guitar, but very good for some performances and for playing at home. Ultimately, i am very satisfied with this guitar.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
