I added a direct drive Gilbraltar double kick and a second crash.
With case and stand, spare crash, hydraulic throne and pedals all in at 3500.00$
Worth every penny.
Blows my 35 year old Pearl Kit outta the water.
Excellent for live performances.
No mics required.
My system is E.V. (6000 watts) and they sound incredible through it.
Mesh heads are the only way to go for dynamics and pure feeling.
Best part they set up outta the carry case in about 5 mins.
I would recomend them to anyone beginner to pro.

The set up: Got it home and opened the 2 boxes it came in (stand, drums). This thing was packed for the apocalypse! Very good first impression. Laid it out, set up as per instructions (a la IKEA), took about an hour and a half. The stand is heavy duty steel, and all mounts(plastic) and components (steel) are equally solid. Cables are bunched together and labelled. 2 mins to hook those up. After 2 weeks of my 6yr old and I beating the daylights out of it, nothing has even slightly shifted out of position. Except maybe the wing nut on top of the crash- but that's to be expected, it gets it the hardest. We wail on that bugger.
Mesh heads. Look more like acoustic than the lower end solid black rubber ones. I think they're quieter as well. ie, hitting the black rubber cymbals is slightly louder (acoustically) than the pads. They feel great and are very easy on the hands/arms. Snare comes preprogrammed with the rim shot on the rim. Still trying to figure out how to program rims on the toms. When I do, it will be cowbell (YEAH!) and probably a tambourine.
Cymbals - awesome. Choke-able. Used the brain to turn up the volume on the crash. Now just tapping it sounds like an explosion! Smashing it sounds even better. :) Seriously though we do beat on that thing a lot and it's sturdy as can be. Ride equally as good. The brain does an outlet for another crash and I will be grabbing one on Cyber monday. Just cuz 2 crashes are twice as awesome.
The brain: - Very plain, basic, fairly intuitive and easy to use. Just haven't quite figured out the advanced detail settings yet. I'm guessing a more advanced or studio recording drummer would thoroughly take advantage of all the settings available for each trigger. Though for playing along with classic rock the 'Rock Kit' as is, is all I've used. Only con I see with the brain is the 'Coach' function. It's really just metronome. That's it. Really. I'm not really a drummer, but think I am, so I thought the Coach might contain some rhythm patterns or something. But nope just timing. Fair enough I do need to work on that, I just thought there might be more to it.
The Sound: Unbelievable! This kit sounds so good. Playing along with songs in the headphones is amazing. Live it just simply sounds as close to an acoustic set I've ever heard.
Monitor: I did buy the Roland PM10 because that what should go with it. But it is the wrong tool for me. Playing along with my ipod sounded mudded and . . . off. So I returned and grabbed a pair of powered High Def home theatre speakers at Visions and OMG! The whole system now sounds amazing. Chest thumping base and bright clean treble. At any volume. My guess is if you're gigging you'll need/appreciate the monitor, but in by basement which is the only place I'll play it wasn't a fit.
Overall impression: EXCELLENT! I'm a 46yr old wannabe. But I will put in the time and didn't want a cheaper set and be left wanting. I am at a stage where I'm willing to pay for quality. However I couldn't justify price jump to the 15K for a hi-hat stand and 30 more programmed kits I know I wont use, lol. Even though in this unit I can program many more if really want to. I couldn't be happier with the look, sound, playability of this unit.
Long & McQuade: Excellent to deal with, very, very helpful. Pleasant, polite. Customer for life!

Great for a serious percussionist! 4 of 4 customers found this review helpful
To build an acoustic kit with all the features it has would be very $$$.
Cons: Only one, You cannot add more cymbals. I'm assuming you need an adapter or upgraded processor for that. I would love two crash cymbals and a ride, but I can manage :).
Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty
A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.
Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.
How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
- Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
- Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
- No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
- Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
- Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
- Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
- Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
- Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
- Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.
Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.
Purchasing additional years of coverage
Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.
If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:
- NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
- USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
- GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
- BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
