I’ve tried tons of great strings for my j200, but Gibson coated strings intrigued me. I did some research and found that Cleartone strings USA made them for Gibson (a company that the Everly Brothers started way back…). To my surprise compared to Elixirs and d’Addario XS, these strings sound great as last long if not better, and don’t flake for almost half the price! They feel and look like uncoated strings with their patented “No-Feel Coating” or EMP treatment. Highly recommended!

I had been using Elixir 11-52 for over 10 yrs on all our guitars , from Parlor to Jumbo. About 3 yrs ago , I was in L&M to buy strings , when I noticed the Gibson coated strings , and especially their price of $17.99 vs $25.99 for elixir . I bought 3 packs figured I would try on the 3 guitars I play most often. I am extremely pleased and honestly cannot tell the difference between the Gibson and Elixir . I am on the lower end of intermediate, so Im far from being the greatest judge . But , for me I cannot hear nor feel any difference. I honestly wonder , is it possible Gibson is contracting Elixir for strings ? I only speculate thinking of the cost of building a string factory , then the R&D needed to actually produce a great string ? Would it not be easier to buy someone else and rebrand ? Certainly wouldnt be the first product to do this . In any case whether they are or aren't, I think they are fantastic and for $8 less a package is a substantial savings.

J’aime essayer différentes sortes de cordes (Martin, D’addario, Ernie Ball, etc).
Je dois dire que ces cordes Gibson m’impressionnent beaucoup. Elles ont un son riche et clair avec une belle présence dans les basses. Elles offrent aussi un son puissant.
Ça faisait un moment que je cherchais des cordes avec ces caractéristiques sans être « glissante » au toucher comme la plupart des cordes enduites.
