Every now and again, a branded article achieves such a high degree of success and widespread distribution that the brand name becomes synonymous with the generic product. This has certainly been the case with the HOHNER Blues Harp, now well into its fifth decade as HOHNERs most popular diatonic model.

The brand name Blues Harp has attained cult status in the contemporary music scene. The model which bears the name features a functional design

combining a wooden comb, high covers without side vents and high quality reed plates to give the instrument its typical bluesy sound, which has made it immensely popular with beginning and intermediate players alike.

Features

- Doussi wood comb

- Stainless steel covers without side vents

- 20 MS reeds

- 0.9 mm brass reed plates

- Available in all 12 major keys

I have played a couple of Blues Harps and while I don't think that it's a terrible harmonica, the responsiveness leaves a lot to be desired. Bending is somewhat easier than on a Marine Band because the reeds are a little looser and the sound quality is good but not great. With all of that being said, it has nothing on the original MB as far as sound quality is concerned. The Blues Harp is overpriced and you'd be better off spending the same amount of money on a MB, a SP20, or a Lee Oskar.

i owned a few of the Hohner blues harp and was impressed with the quality and endurance !! the average life span was 3 years of playing every day !! i bought one lately at double the price, may i add at Long and Mcquade and the 8th blow reed snapped !! double the price at half the quality !! i will be changing over to the Suzuki brand they don't seem to be as greedy and the playability is good

good harp, comb is sealed or something like that so it won't swell. a bit over priced for my liking, lee oskars are in a similar price range and they're a much better harp. nonetheless its become my go-to workhorse harp, always on my belt harp pouch.

I bought my kids Hohner Bluesband Harmonicas for Christmas, then promptly borrowed one. After a week my son asked for his back, then I bought myself the Blues Harp, key of D. I want to get two more key of C and G.
