I love this amp. I've owned several Traynor bass amps over the years starting back in 1970 with a Traynor Bassmaster II head and a 6 x 10? cabinet. Sounded great. Next I had a Traynor Monoblock with a twin 15? Cerwin Vega cabinet. Excellent sound and very reliable. I went smaller after that and tried an Ampeg Flip top single 15? combo. Can't remember the real model name. Great for jazz but not powerful enough for rock. I've had a Peavey TNT single 15? and a Peavey Databass. Both were ok but not great. About 10 years ago I bought a Line 6 Lowdown 300. Ninety pounds of modeling amp. Interesting sound varieties but I was never entirely happy with it. About 3 years ago I bought this Traynor Dynablock and I think It's amazing. I play with a very loud guitarist and drummer and it has no problem filling the room with low end and it's only about half volume. I managed to find the extension speaker cabinet which is well worth the extra $. Gives it a really fat sound. This amp never chokes or distorts. Of course it's heavy but that's why god invented wheels. I think it's worth every penny. We talk about buying Canadian but we don't want to pay for it? Highly skilled Canadian workers do and should make good money so if you want that quality you have to pay for it.

I was curious about this amp for quite a while. I have always liked Traynor gear and the old DB/Yorkville stuff always had loads of power and cut through the mix with ease. After trying the Smallblock stuff, which sounded great but lacked headroom, I was skeptical of the new DB stuff. Yesterday I found a used one of these at a local LandM so I plugged a Jazz bass in to try her out. KILLER! This amp has all the power and headroom you need, and with the gain up and master at less than half I had a jamable volume with great tone. The old DB amps had sooo many knobs with all the mids/perimetric mids and boost/cut knobs, it took for ever to dial in a good tone. With these guys they simplified the preamp/eq making it much easier and quicker to find and shape your tone. Like the old ones it has all the other features you need: headphones, tuner out, line out di, tweeter switch, etc This is the amp I've been looking for from Traynor. Volume, headroom, tone, size, expandability, it's perfect. Not too heavy either. I neo speaker would help with that but those neo's have a unique sound to them that is cool, but I like the power and pressence of a normal speaker. Awesome amp, I highly recommend it. For anyone out there that actually still looks down at Traynor and doesn't hold them up there with the other big boy companies, get over it. I have played ALL their bass amps and cabs, and for what each one is designed to do, they are awesome! Traynor cabs rule! and their heads can compete with any other.

I was able to pick this amp up used for $450 so it was a really good value. I have 3 of the DNBX12" extension cabinets already (I power 2 of them with a TC Electronics BH800) and as this combo is designed specifically for use with them it was a match made in heaven. This amp is LOUD. Pleasantly surprised by the amount of air it could push through 2x12". The only downside to this combo is the difficulty in accessing the back panel of the amp itself. The back panel is at a 90 degree angle facing downwards and there is only just enough space to insert a Neutrik speaker cable into the input. So the amp lost a point in that department for me. Built like a tank. Not too heavy. No issues with the construction at all. But I doubt I'd buy this amp at the original list price but at under $500 it's a steal.

Rented this amp with the extension 12 inch cab. The amp is really fantastic, loud and powerful and im not into having loads of knobs to fiddle with so in my opinion the eq is just right. Every knob has an affect on the tone, some amps you can turn the eq all day and nothing. Very heavy though but not too bad that it makes it uncomfortable. Built like a tank though and i love that. Only negative thing is the price. Where i love the amp i would never spend $1,000 if i was looking to buy which is why i give it an 8.

In the world of lightweight combos this isnt one of them. Heavy and overpriced in my opinion. But it is powerful and has much low end to spare. Would have liked to see more eq options.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
