The shape of the Luis & Clark cello makes it easier to play. It is played closer to the body so the bow arm does not have to be so high at the point of the A string, thus reducing one of the causes of the "sore shoulder syndrome."

There is no sharp edge from the cello neck rubbing against the musician's chest, making this cello more comfortable to play. This instrument uses very little ebony, reducing demand of this endangered tree species.

I've been playing cello for 6 years now, and finally outgrew my "student" one. This Luis and Clark is an absolute beaut. The sound is clear and bright, a joy to play. It brings new life to my music. I love it! On the recommendation of Robin at the Edmonton store, I also got a cf bow (Codabow Diamond NX). An absolutely perfect match.

It took me a little while to get used to the sleek feel and the rich robust sound, but once I got playing it, I loved the way it sang. I just got finished playing a series of concerts for the entire month of December, where it was played in all sorts of different venues. Coupled with the DPA mic system, I had no trouble with background noise etc. This cello performed very well, especially from being in all kinds of weather and temperatures. I wish I could afford it.

If your looking for an incredibly powerful and responsive instrument, I've never played a better cello. one of the overlooked things about it, is the ease pf playability. it almost seems to play itself in the hands of a good player even when you are sweaty. I played this in summer in a hot cubicle. I agree wood cello's are slightly better for character, but the cf cello is absolutely got its own sound qualities. Amazing, I am buying one as I write. I am very impressed by it. It is better than the now defunct prima Sonora cello, and the competitive German mezzo forte brand in my opinion by far.
