I bought it, kept it for a week or two, and returned it. I agree it is cheap, plays decent and etc. but it just doesn't have the quality of $500-$600 range violins (it didn't hold it's tuning for over a day in the week or two I had it). To me, the sound quality wasn't especially great (e.g. when I recorded it, it sounded scratchy--and this was something my wife noticed compared to other violins) and I noticed that the craftsmanship was poor. It might be great for certain people, but I don't think it would make a great violin for any serious and/or recording musician. I would recommend investing in a higher quality violin, even for beginners.

I bought this violin for my 5 year old son. He was renting a much more expensive Suzuki Violin for the time being. The Stentor violin is well worth the money. I play guitar and I am very picky about quality fit and finish and tone. This violin looks every bit as good as the more expensive one we rented. Even on close inspection there were no finish flaws. It also sound every bit as good as the one he rented. The case is nice as well. Definitely worth it.

I bought this violin recently because I wanted a budget friendly instrument to learn with, and this one fit the bill. I was expecting to have to replace the strings right away, and even then I didn't think that the sound would be GREAT, but to my amazement I haven't changed the string, and I think it's a really nice sounding violin :) I am able to get a very nice tone from it, and while I will probably buy new strings within the year, it makes me very happy that for this price I was able to get a good quality violin with a nice tone, and that also looks and feels very nice, to play, and learn with. I highly recommend it.

This is my very first Violin that I ever bought. The sound is totally good when played and the qualities are fine. Im very impressed about this Violin. Im going to Violin class at Long & McQuade as soon as they find a Violin teacher. Over all I'll give 10/10 for it.
