I tried both the Yamaha GL-1 and the Denver Guitalele in store and this one is way nicer. In comparison the wood is a much nicer quality and it's headstock is a little bit more compact. You can play anything from a guitar by just transposing chords, so its fine to use if you only know guitar chords. The plated strings included with it wear down on the frets though, most notably on the G string. On the low frets it has metal wires coming off of them. I will probably replace it with a nylon string when I have to, but it's not too annoying, so I'm in no rush. (I just clip the unwound plating off with nail clippers when it shows up.) Very good guitalele.

I threw mine in luggage for Italy trip and then threw it in my backpack from there. Played it every day; is very fun if you have that mindset (entertainment more than musician). Fingering chords can be tight and singing/key may need to be higher (tight for a capo too as there's not much space for fingers as you go up the fretboard). Had the same o-ring-style wear on the strings as a previous reviewer but the strings sound fine and last well. No truss rod etc. but it takes a beating and is very playable. If anything bad happens to it, you're not out a lot of money and it likely gave you and others a ton of smiles. If you're reasonably careful at campfires etc. there is no reason it won't last for years. I like it much better than my M***** Backpacker.

I was looking for a cheap small acoustic I could bring places and not worry about damaging, and it was between this and a Gretsch Jim Dandy. I bought this since it was readily available and significantly cheaper. I was worried I was going to have to keep it in A tuning, but it actually tunes down to E just fine with no buzzing at all surprisingly. Even more surprisingly, the action isn’t horrible like a lot of similarly priced guitars. Very playable, and I can sweep arpeggios about 90% as fast as I can on any other guitar. One big thing that I did not like though is that the frets seem to be made of coarse sandpaper. After the first day of playing I was starting to get little wear rings around each of the strings directly over each fret. Also, bends sound like you just laid down a motorcycle on concrete because of this. I’m going to be removing the strings soon and polishing the frets smooth which should fix my only real complaint, but it’s something to consider. All in all I don’t regret buying this whatsoever. So easy to just pick up and mess around on. I just leave it by my couch where I watch TV.

I got one of these in black a few months ago and it's great. Stays in tune, easy to play, sounds beautiful. Absolutely worth it for the price. The strings should be replaced pretty quickly as the included set wear down almost immediately, I recommend Ernesto palla. One of the other reviews says the black rubbed off on them, but I'm not having that issue.

I have owned this guitalele for four months now and love it! Would recommend not getting it in black as the color rubs off on the fingers a little, (not permanently of course but still a little annoying). If you are going to be playing the instrument quite a bit (like me), I would also recommend getting better strings than it comes with as the steel strings wore out and almost snapped over time. Overall the instrument sounds good for its price, and is really portable and fun to play!

Great quality that one would expect from a veteran guitar maker and really the best bang for the buck. Adults love them also as a travel or kick around campfire guitar. Sweet tone, especially for the price.

It's the same size as a tenor ukulele. The workmanship is really good. We replaced the four higher note strings with tenor ukulele strings and it sounds much better. The only thing that could be improved is if the strings were more widely spaced (wider nut, wider neck).

I have a tayor GS mini but I bought this for travelling with even less luggage allowance! It's cute sounding and I play it daily. It's no GS mini (obviously) but sometimes I just feel like playing a tiny guitar. I'm really happy with it!

Awesome little guitar/ukulele! I bought this to take along on trips where space is an issue (camping, sailing, vacations, etc) and it works great. Very easy to strum and play. Great sound and even came with a gig bag.

I just heard about these things and I wanted to try one so bad, so I bought this one they had to order it but it came in super quickly, and now I can't put it down. The colour on this one is a little darker than shown in the picture, but it still looks beautiful. I defiantly recomend getting one.

I bought this a year ago and have a lot of fun with it. It is well made for the price. It sounds great. I play ukulele. The Guitalele is tune as ADGCEA. The first four string is tune in low G like a ukulele and it is very versatile and fun to play with. The fret is a bit closed together and people with big finger may not like it. If you want a low G ukulele. Try this one. It sound marvelous.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
