Meg Tinwhistle D
This product is no longer available.
The Meg is almost identical to the UK manufactured Sweetone; the difference according to Clarke is "budget raw materials and a modified production process". Clake's goal with the Meg is to "bring affordable music to the masses". Like the Sweetone, the Meg combines the classic conical Clarke body with a modern plastic mouthpiece designed by Michael Copeland, a respected maker of fine Irish whistles.

I got this as my first whistle for about $8 + change. Was expecting it to be lower end, beginner, wanting something better, but I absolutely love it! I did order the ‘step up’ sweetone model later, but honestly I see (and hear) no difference. The meg will not let you down if you want to play fun whistle tunes for your own enjoyment or with others. I heard it was being discontinued which is a shame as it’s a real cutie, but fear not as the sweetone is similar if not the same. It’s not too loud for those of you in apartments or close quarters, but has that authentic tin whistle sound. Hope you enjoy this whistle as much as I do.

This Meg model is very similar (nearly identical) to the Clarke Sweetone. It plays just as easily and requires very little air to get into the second octave. It's a shame Clarke has discontinued this "halfpenny" whistle with the classic name. If you're a fan of conical bore whistles or Clarkes in general I would grab one while you can!

You can’t beat the price of this whistle. We own 3, and all play well. It is a lower pitch than whistle in the key of D, which makes it great for practice. I found reaching the higher octave you had to force a little more air but it gets there. All around, this is a great whistle and we’d definitely recommend it to anyone interested in learning the tin whistle.

ive tried a couple different whistles now, and id say this one is my favourite to play indoors. its not too loud, has a solid tone, is in tune, and has a nice look. im very pleased with it, and even more so since trying a few different ones.

This is the bare basic of pennywhistle/tinwhistle. If you have never touches a whistle in your life, this model may turn you off. It's more recommended for much younger children to get use to the method of playing. But the sound it screechy and empty as you would expect from a ten dollar whistle. Stay clear if you are an adult and know how to play. Not a great sound. Just for kids.
