FSR Blues JR III Limited Edition - Silver & Black
This product is no longer available.
The Fender FSR Blues Junior III guitar combo amplifier is a sleek and sexy beast that looks quite dapper and sounds like a million bucks! Futuristic Silver vinyl covering and black grille cloth compliment the English grunt of the Celestion Vintage 30 speaker. This robust speaker exudes a warmth and crunch that works amazingly well with the Blues Junior.

The Blues Junior III is a 15-watt warm-toned, longtime favorite - the perfect grab-and-go tube amp for stage and studio. It is known for the fat mid tones characteristic of EL-84 output tubes, warm 12AX7 preamp tube overdrive, real spring reverb, simple control layout, footswitchable FAT boost and external speaker capability. Unique features to this amp include: Silver vinyl covering, Black grille cloth, a 12" 8-ohm Celestion Vintage 30 speaker for gorgeous cleans and warm, British overdrive. Also includes "Limited Edition" FSR badge. Additional features include: Easy-to-read black control panel with front-reading text, vintage Fender "dog bone" handle, vintage-size jewel light, "sparkle" circuit mod, rattle-reducing shock absorbers for the EL84 tubes.

The Blues Junior III combo amp has one channel. The spring reverb sounds great. The FAT (midrange boost) is footswitch-able. The build quality is professional. The Celestion V30 speaker is made in Asia, but it sounds first rate. The speaker in this special edition Blues Junior III has a "British" voice. With the twin EL-84 power tubes, the amp can do full, overdriven classic rock like a Marshall or a Fender Tweed amp, especially with the FAT switch engaged. With the FAT switch off, it has more of a Fender Blackface clean sound. The three 12AX7 preamp tubes give a wide range of overdrive at any volume. The solid state rectifier gives the amp a tight sound. If the rectifier were tube you would get "sag" compression. If you wanted an amp with this power and a rectifier tube, the closest form factor would be the 57 Deluxe Tweed, which is available in a head version at 4 times the price of the Blues Junior. A rectifier (5Y3) tube, and an amp circuit (5E3) like the 57 Deluxe is hand wired the way amps were manufactured 50 years ago. Both amps are very basic. Both amps offer excellent tone. With the complete set of controls (Reverb, Master, Middle, Bass, Treble, "Fat" Switch, Volume) a wide range of volumes and tones can be dialed in quite easily. This amp has the minimum amount of controls that I would want on a professional gigging amplifier. An amp can have more controls and be gig-worthy. This minimum set of controls makes it easy to work with in a live situation quickly. The amp is quite intuitive to work with. The Vintage 30, Celestion’s most revealing speaker, features enormously detailed and complex overtones, a warm low end, a famously rich vocal mid-range and a beautifully detailed top end. The Vintage 30 is a modern guitar loudspeaker designed to handle high output with vintage tone and style. It is tight and responsive with single note definition, with masses of volume and sustain. 100dB sensitivity makes the Vintage 30 ideal for use with high gain valve amplifiers. It is the first choice for many modern rock guitarists. Voice coil material is round copper . Magnet type is Ceramic. Magnet weight is 50oz. Frequency range 70-5000Hz . Resonance frequency, Fs 75Hz . Some amplifiers exhibit what is known as “sag” when a note is struck due to a drop of voltage in the power supply. This changes the attack of the note and adds to the overall tone of the amp but not everyone will see it as an improved tone. The Valve Junior circuit and others like it (commonly referred to as “Champ” circuits after the Fender Champ) draw an almost constant current so fitting a tube rectifier will not induce SAG as there is not enough change in the current to cause sufficient voltage drop. That is why the amp comes with a solid state rectifier. It keeps costs down. If you need an entry level fully professional tube amp – this is it. Other amps with more features will cost much more. You can get cheaper solid state amps, like the Fender Champion 100 which is another option for entry level or those who cannot hear or don’t care about the difference between tubes and transistors.

Features: Some amps have two channels, so you can individually set up your clean and driven tones, for example. The amp has one channel. The spring reverb sounds great, but this is the only 'effect' the Blues Jr offers. Quality: The build quality is fantastic. The speaker is made in Asia, but it doesn't sound cheap; it has soul. Value: This amp isn't a "hidden treasure" in terms of quality vs. price. I'd say it's priced fairly. You know you're getting a great amp, and it comes with a price tag to match. Overall: The Vintage 30 speaker in this amp has less mid and treble output and more mid than the standard Blue Jr. speaker, giving it a very "British" voice. It can do full, overdriven classic rock in a Marshall-like way; but, sink the preamp volume, turn up the master, add some reverb and you have a very crisp, Fender sound, only rounded in tone by the speaker.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
