Roland's Aerophone series has opened a new world of creative possibilities for wind instrument players, and Aerophone Pro delivers the most expressive and playable experience yet.

Aerophone Pro makes it easy to channel your creativity and lose yourself in the moment. Fingering is the same as an acoustic sax and includes a high-F# key, so you already know how to play it. And configurable controls for both hands and a MIDI input for footswitches greatly expand your performance options. The breath and bite sensors are more responsive and expressive than ever, with low latency and configurable settings to suit your unique playing style.

Authentic brass, woodwinds, strings, and more.
Aerophone Pro packs an entire brass and woodwind section into a single instrument. There are newly enhanced soprano, alto, and tenor saxes, vibrant new trumpet sounds, and authentic world instruments like the stunning new duduk. Its SuperNATURAL technology translates every nuance of your playing with lifelike dynamics, articulations, and overtones. I Purchased the AE-30 again after returning the first one because of its loud rattly key noise. I decided to use it in situations where there was a lot of people and a drummer because even with the loud keys the sounds are very playable and editable and well worth stepping up from the AE-10
I was also told there was a "fix" for the key noise and sent this unit to Roland's repair dept. where they did quiet the key noise to a much more acceptable degree, plus they repaired a sticky octave-up key that has also been reported by other users. I'd still like even quieter keys.
This model has a lot of features no other synths have -- like modifying your sound by tilting the instrument up -- something that's truly unique to the AE-30 and also something I personally haven't yet found a reason to use.
I'm rating the AE-10 much higher than my original review because Roland did respond to key noise complaints with a fix which shows Roland does listen to its customers. Long & McQuade sent it in to Roland for me at no expense.
I would check out the AE-20 before buying this model because it's a bit less expensive with a few less features, but nothing important in my opinion -- unless you want the tilt-up voice mod feature.
As always, Long & McQuade has been an absolute delight to work with and took back my first AE-30 purchase without any hassle whatsoever. Whichever Roland model you buy, be sure and add another year of warranty coverage -- it's inexpensive and worth having as these instruments are delicate and might require adjustments/repairs past their one-year warranty from Roland.

I am a saxophonist who has been trying to find a way to :
1. Practice without disturbing the entire family , pets , and neighbours, especially late at night.
2. Record different instrument sounds that I do not have in my home studio.
3. Record with an instrument that I feel at home with sax like fingering with endless possibilities.
I found all this and more with the Roland Aerophone Pro
AE-30. This for me is a game changer. It will never replace my conventional sax but it has given me more possibilities to explore to no end. Roland has really stepped up their game with this amazing product. I have so much fun with it and I can't wait to incorporate the Aerophone on my live shows. Thank you Roland and thank you Long & McQuade Brampton Dan McNab for the excellent service and non stop support!!

After waiting months for the Aerophone Pro to arrive I purchased it anticipating that as a “Pro” model it would be a significant improvement over the AE-10 which I own and play. However after just a few days I’ve already returned it to Long & McQuade. The key noise is unacceptably loud. They don’t just clatter when you play, they clack like an old computer keyboard from the 80s - but louder. I own nine different wind controllers going back to the mid-80s and this is the first controller I’ve ever had to return to the store. I’m surprised Roland would sell a product with such loud clattery keys. One of the first comments I got was that the keys made a cheap plastic sound. If you don't care about loud key clacking the AE-30 is a darn good controller with excellent breath control and a range of playable sounds, though I was a bit disappointed with the Supernatural sounds. I think the Aerophone AE-10 does better with several of them, especially strings. But as I couldn't get past the loud key noise I didn't delve into the features other than to note there is a wide range of user settings. There's a lot of customization possible with the sounds -- but it requires a bit of a learning curve. If you plan to play the Aerophone Pro in a noisy environment such as a pub where there's lots of loud talking then I doubt anyone past the first few tables will hear the keys clattering. You certainly can't play it at low volume without the distraction of the clacking. I wish I could give this a better review. I will wait until I hear that Roland has corrected this obvious problem before I consider buying the Aerophone Pro — again.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
