The miracle of volume! With its mahogany "long-body" design and comfortable soft-"V" neck, this faithful reissue of the 1930s classic sounds and plays like a million bucks. The vital feature of all Gretsch resonator guitars is the all-new Gretsch "Ampli-Sonic" diaphragm (resonator cone), which is hand-spun in Eastern Europe from nearly 99 percent pure aluminium and yields an impressive quality and volume of tone.

Bought this resonator for many of the reasons listed by other reviewers. Sure it's not a top line National but for the price it sounds and plays beautifully right off the mark. I played a few higher priced resonators in the store (including a very muddy sounding $800 dollar Epiphone) but kept coming back to this fine sounding little Gretch. The tone is warm and surprisingly bright. The action off the shelf, easy and comfortable. I own a couple of high end Martins that I love but I have to say this resonator probably ends up being played the most. The only upgrade I made (and recommend) was to change out the rather cheap feeling tuners for some better quality ones. Gretch have added a couple of upgraded variations of this base model recently which have some nice additions (colour bursts, electronics, bindings). However all the basic builds (including the all important resonator cone) appear to be almost identical in materials and quality. Great value for the money. Hope this helps.

I have owned this guitar for 3 years now. It has traveled all over Saskatchewan with me, and it has never been an issue. The neck has been perfect, the action has been perfect. The first thing anyone says to me is how loud it is, but it has beautiful full tones from high to low. You absolutely can not go wrong with this guitar.

I did alot of research on resonators because I wanted one to strum. I bought the raised nut as well in case I wanted to try the slide. But I use it to strum and absolutely love it. I am a singer and it has a beautiful rich tone and is always a conversation piece!??????

I recently purchased this guitar because i was interest in learning/playing slide on one. Definitely impressed by the quality for the price. After hearing this was part of Gretsch's budget line i was skeptical, but after playing it i would recommend this guitar to anyone wanting a great bluesy sound at an inexpensive price.
