A truly amazing guitar. Not only is it beautiful but it sounds amazing, with incredible sustain that has notes sounding like they can go on forever. Super happy.

Very quickly became my go to guitar. This is only my second Gibson Les Paul (also have a 2010 studio faded which I'm not enamored with). All I can say is WOW - this thing plays like a dream. Frets and action are perfect, tone is exceptional and options of splitting, bypass and phase are truly impressive. The finish is exceptional (with one small exception) - love the colour! Very high in the "Wife Acceptance Factor".
Only finish issue I've found has been some minor bleeding of the blue stain into the binding on the neck in one spot ~1cm long. It's a little heavy but hey, it's a Les Paul.
Prices have become a little insane but that's true of everything these days.
Shout out to Rick in the Brampton store for his assistance on this purchase and many others over the years.

I don't normally leave reviews but I just had to. I play a LP Standard and a LP Custom shop. Both amazing guitars. Gotta say. This Classic Plus is right there beside them. I've owned it for all of one day and I have to say...WOW!I was thinking of a another guitar but played this in store and took a chance. Glad I did! Amazing guitars tones, excellent feel in the hands. Plays like butter. Sustain is almost forever. The Burstbucker pick ups are a bit hotter than those in my other two LP's but that's what I was looking for. Seems a bit heavier for a weight relieved LP. The push pull pots give plenty of tonal options. I probably won't use them much but nice to have the option. I love the 60's slim neck. Overall appearance of this axe was beautiful. Well crafted. This may very well be my go to in the future. Can't wait to gig with it. To top off the whole experience the Owen Sound Long and McQuade staff are fantastic. Great bunch of people and more than helpful. Thanks guys.

This is my second Gibson Les Paul (LP) and a third one I’ve ever owned. The review will be in comparison to the other two. The other Les Paul I currently own is a 2021 Tribute, and I loved it so much that I decided to get rid of my Fender Strat to get this LP. There’s just something about a Gibson that sounds so killer, raw and powerful unlike anything else. And a LP is the most beautiful design for a guitar in my book. While this guitar is more than double the price of a Tribute model, I personally find I prefer the playability of the Tribute because of its matt nitro finish while this is gloss nitro and also a little bit more prone to finger prints. Despite having a 9-hole weight reduction like the Tribute and made of same woods, I find it’s substantially heavier than the Tribute. Nonetheless, the guitar plays like a dream as you’d expect from a Gibson and has no issues from the playability perspective. It looks fabulous and definitely a few steps up from the Tribute model with the beautiful paint job, AAA maple top, binding, and inlays including the Gibson logo in pearl too. Locking tuners are a nice add but not required for me, the regular Gibson ones work just fine. One of the reasons that drew me to this guitar besides the beautiful paint job is the flexibility of the pickup switching, especially since I gave up my Strat to get this guitar. The push-pull pots work great, with the coil splits for that P90 sound and out of phase option for a different (and actually interesting, useful) tone. But don’t expect it to sound just like a Strat. It’s not the same thing. The other thing is if you pull on the bottom tone knob you get a full bypass for something of a “solo boost” mode. I think all the sounds are very usable but to me the Les Paul is all about the Humbucker sound, and if that’s what you are all about I don’t know if I can justify the price of this guitar when compared to the Tribute model from the pure sound perspective. In fact, I think the Tribute is a little more “ballsy” with those 490R/T pickups that are just pure rock ‘n’ roll. These pickups are a bit more classic though still blipin’ awesome. Don’t get me wrong – this is an amazing guitar and I love it. I’ll keep it forever. But, if you are on a tighter budget, and really all about the humbucker LP sound, then this may not be worth to you and you may be fully satisfied with a Tribute model or something else, like a used Faded 2018 model if you can find one used for a good deal (the third Gibson I owned (my first one) and regret selling). Oh yeah, the hard case that comes with this guitar is the best case for a LP style guitar I’ve ever seen. It’s simply gorgeous and super high quality. In fact, I might want to get one for my Tribute LP too if I can. Overall verdict: Drop-dead gorgeous looks, lots of tonal versatility, good playability, sweet pickups and a sick case. I recommend!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
