The original PolyTune rocked the world. It forever changed the way we look at tuning. The world's first polyphonic tuner took the hearts of guitarists by storm. Was it the jaw-droppingly awesome polyphonic tuning that made tuning much faster, easier and intuitive? The bright LED matrix with auto-dimming that ensured maximum visibility? Tuning Magnet, the slowing of the needle as you approached the correct pitch? Maybe the MonoPoly technology that sensed whether you played one or six strings and instantly adjusted accordingly?

Like musicians who never really know how they wrote that number 1 hit, it was probably a combination of factors for us. Whatever it was, you loved it and we loved it! But at TC Electronic we're all about moving forward, so we've improved on perfection and added some guitarist gems that cement PolyTune 2 as the leader of the pedal tuning pack.

- PolyTune Technology - Tune All Strings Simultaneously

I had a generation one of this tuner and ran into a couple of problems with it. One the switch went (luckily I was able to get another switch and fix it). Then after about 3 years of light use it actually fried on stage (could see the smoke and smell it). Took it home and sure enough it was fried inside. I would stay clear of this pedal.

I had the first generation of this tuner. I liked it a lot when it worked. It was easy to tune quickly and was easy to see in dark settings. The only problem is the pedal died on me with light use. It would not work with new batteries or a pedal power adapter. I emailed TC Electronics and was told I would have to ship the pedal to them and pay to have it repaired (around 60 bucks) plus the shipping. Maybe I got a lemon but I would rate the durability and value extremely low and buy the boss pedal tuner instead.

I have used several guitar tuners in the past, but this is the best. Pros: - Very fast. - The strobe is very sensitive and is very useful for adjusting intonation. - DC output for powering other pedals. Cons: - This tuner does not have a microphone and therefore is not for an acoustic guitar (unless it has a built-in pickup) - The ambient light sensor simply does not work at all!

Had it for about a year. Going to buy a second one. Very accurate if you are intonating an electric guitar. Built like a tank.
