What attracted me to this amp were the videos on YouTube showing users downloading "tones" that would match the song they wanted to play. That would sure save a lot of time fiddling with my amp/board etc. My problems began with trying to update the Firmware via pc (I am not a mac user). I could not get it to take. And without the firmware update, the amp would not recognize my Android. The phone is a Note 9 with latest updates btw. Thats important so we can rule the phone out. I sent in a support ticket and received an email saying someone would respond to me in 3 days. That kind of sucked. So, I put the Android away and pulled out my iPhone X - again running latest os. This went much better. The iOS app integrated with the amp right away, told me I needed to update the firmware and allowed me to do through the phone - although I had to try it twice for some reason. The 1st attempt it just locked up. More on this later... Once the firmware was updated I had to try out the tone matching. No problem I thought because Line 6 says the amp will find tones for the music on my phone. Only problem is my iPhone uses my Google Play account for music. And Google Play will not work with this device. OK, so I set up an Apple Music account. Still no music integration! Why? Well, it is because for the app to recognize the music on your device, the music needs to be added to a Playlist. So that is what I did and once I had music in the playlist, I could indeed play a song and the app would make tone suggestions. Some of them were pretty good, some of them not good at all. Its a mixed bag. The tones are created by users who upload them to Line 6 and the app will choose what tones it feels best match your song. Like I said, some were ok, others were in left field. So now I am playing a song - and I have a nice tone selection for my guitar - and then the app breaks its connection to the amp. So I stop the app, restart it and begin again. And it breaks connection again. Now I am on the internet looking into this issue. It has been a common complaint with Amplifi users going back as far as 2015 from what I saw. And I am experiencing the same problem in 2020. And this is with iOS. I had so many software frustrations with the amp I really didnt get to play with the amp as an amp much, so probably from a hardware perspective it might be fine - although the stated 150 watts is not very loud. My MV50 cranked through a 10" cab will crush this thing in terms of volume and depth of sound. So I am not sure how they are measuring the wattage. It sounds "ok" but I would just give it an "ok". I am returning the one I bought 1st of the week when L&M reopens.

I bought this 6 months ago and realized soon after I need to invest more time before I would be happy with it. The time never came, I need visual indicators not adjustments burried behind menus and option paralysis. I had it 6 months could not get over patches the need endless tweaking. I want to play guitar not tweak an amp for 45 min for a song or two. Guys at l&m were good about taking return and noted " it's the number one returned amp" I tried a fender gt40, gt100, line6 v60 and orange crush 20rt. After 1 hrs I kept coming back to boss katana it was miles ahead in ease of use and notably sound.

Bought this amp for its ability to record via USB. Simply connect it to lap top via usb and Reaper recognises it. Ability to use tones from the Amplifi app or available footswitches. Sounds are incredible and has enough power to play over a drum kit easily when we jam. I would recommend a footswitch to save you the hassle of changing tones via app or top of the unit. Need a tone? search the app for it and it is most likely there.

It's an awesome BlueTooth speaker, not the greatest guitar amp. The Amplifi software for adjusting the effects and models doesn't maintain a connection to the amp. It rarely works. I just use it to jam to tracks while I play the guitar through an effects board to a tube amp. Don't buy this as an amp, but buy it for it's well-rounded, great sounding song playing skills.

I wanted this amp for two applications. 1) As an acoustic amp for my 12 string guitar. In about 5 minutes I found and downloaded the acoustic tone I wanted to the amp. Sound is warm and sweet. I am using this with the BOSE L1 compact for vocals. Great combination. 2) I needed a better quality, and louder, Bluetooth speaker to jam and perform with my Cajon. The amplifi delivers on both fronts. Using Spotify, I did have to adjust the eq slightly and manually, as none of the canned eq settings were effective with this sound system. I simply adjusted each eq band up or down slightly to satisfy my ear. Nothing wild on the eq, just a gentle tweak, and wow, it sounds phenomenal. The beauty of this setup, is that I can use the cajon to jam with some Latin dance music, such as Despacito or Lento, for example, and then grab my guitar and sing a few songs.

A very versatile amplifier that uses current technology to facilitate modern and traditional sounds from a variety of digitally-modelled amps and effects all controlled through (wireless) your Apple iPhone or Android device using the Line 6 remote app available for free download from the AppStore. Very loud when you need it, doubles as a stereo unit with its 5 speakers, plug in your handheld device to an AUX IN jack or stream music wireless via its Bluetooth connectivity. So many features with the ability to save presets, adjust all amp, effects, and other parameters, play along and jam with your favourite songs. AMPLIFi even will match tones from your favourite guitar music. A plus is that it looks like a modern pice of furniture. Special thanks to the Kanata team - Matt and Chris - for always great customer service and support, it's always enjoyable and informative doing business with this L&M store.

Initially when I bought this amp, I was disappointed in that you need the floorboard to really work the unit properly. The iPad control helps but almost impossible to tweak or switch anything while playing. So for the first month, I found it to be an amp with huge potential but they really need to package it with the floorboard. Now that I shelled out the extra money, I can control volume, use the wah, and turn on/off the effects right at my feet. When I rehearse, I download suggested tunes and tweak with the iPad. I am really liking this Amplifi now but the investment is still substantial.

The controls only work with the guitar amp, but don't do anything to the music or backing track...bummer This amp needs a line out to a sub woofer, the bass response isn't up to par, but not bad. I still really like it but it could have been way better if I designed it...hehe I hope they offer trade ins as I hope the next model will kick butt.

Selling my Marshall Half-stack, my AC30 and my Fender blackface. This amp does it all. I haven't owned a solid state amp in years, and I was previously unimpressed with the amp modeling features available. But the Line6 Amplify is great. The tones near perfect. It breaks up the way a tube amp should. This needs to be controlled with a tablet or smartphone. If you are not comfortable with this, then don't buy this amp. Otherwise, the ability to control the settings with my iPhone/iPad is great. One problem WAS that the amp only retained 4 tones (aka patches) at a time. I called up Line6 and asked them when they plan to finish the job, as 4 tones won't cut it for any gig. Within a week, they sent out an update, giving the amp the capacity to store 100 tones. My only beef with the amp is the way it cuts out when switching between tones. There is a half-second of silence, making the player sound like he/she forgot the next part of the song. Line6 said they're working on that as well. One other problem: there is no pre-amp out, which kind of sucks. There is a headphone out, but it (obviously) cuts the speaker off. My band emulates classic rock, and my guitar sounds have to be spot on. With this amp, they are just that.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
