You want to play when and as you like, without being confined to time or place... Yamaha's next generation SILENT Brass makes it happen. The new SILENT Brass consists of a smaller, lighter, freer blowing Pickup Mute, and the Personal Studio, which features Yamaha's exclusive Brass Resonance Modeling. Used together, the two deliver the natural acoustic tone you hear when playing without a mute, making it feel as though you are playing mute free.

Pickup Mute
The Pickup Mute combines a high-performance mute with an internal microphone to pickup sound. Significantly smaller and lighter than previous versions, the mute offers superior muting performance, delivers excellent intonation over a wide pitch range, and natural playability. A new compact design now lets you put your instrument in its case with the mute in the bell.

Brass Resonance Modeling
The SILENT Brass features Yamaha's unique technology, which uses the modelling of non-muted brass instruments to correct your instrument's tone when the Pickup Mute is in place. The resulting sound is so realistic, it's hard to tell whether the instrument is muted, or not.

The SILENT Brass Offers More Enjoyment
Connect the output from an audio player, smartphone, etc. to the AUX IN jack on the Personal Studio and enjoy playing along with your favourite recordings or "minus one" practice aids. The PHONES jack can also be used as an output jack for recording what you play.

Q & A

Question: I have the Silent Brass stx for my trombone. Is there a way to make it Bluetooth so I can wear my Bluetooth headphones?

Answer: You could add a Bluetooth transmitter into the setup such as the Hosa IBT-402. Please see in our site search for more details.

For the price I pay for this system there should be better quality cords and headphones, it’s amazing when you get your own high quality stuff but it doesn’t make the sound loud enough for some headphones. Would like it to be able to go even louder.

The headphones and aux cord that come with it are very bad quality, they make it a bit delayed sounds. However if you put a good aux cord and headphones then you have an awesome system! A feature that could be added is a jack for recording, you can probably use the headphone jack but then you can’t have them in! Great system for practicing though. If a new version comes out I would love to be able to trade this one in and try it out!
