We've seen it (and done it) hundreds of times: grabbing the guitar out of the side of a partially unzipped case while standing up. We do this to save space, to save time, or to save our backs. This observation became the driving concept behind the Vertigo™, the world's first top-loading™ guitar case. The top loading feature might have been enough, but we went ahead and redesigned the Headlock™ for automatic neck support. Then we created The Boot™, a rubber sole designed for unsurpassed protection against vertical drops. The game has changed.

HEADLOCK™

The Vertigo™ features a fully redesigned Headlock™ neck suspension system. No strapping, buckling, or belting required. No extra steps. Just throw your guitar in and the neck finds a natural resting point in the base of the Headlock™. Then zip the case up and the top section of the Headlock™ automatically clamps down over your guitar, holding it firmly in place. Your headstock is now fully protected against backward drops and side-to-side impact. Lightning fast!

THE BOOT™

Another first of its kind, The Boot™ takes guitar protection to a new level. Using manufacturing technologies from the footwear industry, the Vertigo™ bounces off of concrete like a pair of cross trainers. With its custom molded rubber outsole and EVA insole, The Boot™ also protects strap pins of all shapes and sizes from those nasty vertical drops. Travel in confidence and style. It's a good look.

top-loading™

A slick feature that you will come to love. The Vertigo™ does not open like a traditional guitar case. Its design allows you to quickly unzip the case and pull your guitar out from the top. This is enabled by a hidden diagonal hinge on the front panel of the case. Once unzipped, the case naturally opens out and to the right. No need to lay your guitar case down on the floor. Stop bending over. Nobody wants to see that. Take a stand!

BUILT TO MOVE

Everything in its place. Specialized storage compartments put your gear right where you need it. Deep gussets make sure your small items stay put.

FITTING

Fits all standard electric bass guitars including Fender, Ibanez, Fodera, Warwick, Tobias, Yamaha. Also fits some not-so-standard bass guitars.

I have owned and used this case for almost two years now. It is the most rugged, well-made case I have used, and over a 33 year bass playing career, I've tried many. The material used is first rate, as are the zippers and other hardware. The boot, provides great protection and confidence that the end pin on your bass will not be damaged if the case should be put down too heavily. The case fits closely and you'll probably find that you'll have to take the strap off to get everything to fit inside the case. The strap and a cable takes up a lot of the room in the side case, so other than a few music sheets, there's not much room for more. A bit inconvenient, but not a problem. I have a separate gear bag, but may have to spring for the Tick bag for stuff related to my particular bass. A bit pricey, but in this instance, you get what you paid for! Highly recommended!

One look at this case and you will clearly see what all the hype is about. Mono products are well constructed and provide a level of coverage not found in other cases. Of course, that coverage is expensive but if you are like me and take your bass out often, this is the bass case to get. The top loading feature of this case allows you to remove your bass from the case quickly and easily! The boot provides a level of protection that isn't provided in any other soft case. The only weakness of this case is the limited amount of storage it provides. If storage is a concern for you, like it is for me, be prepared to shell out another $120 or so for the add-on storage bag called the Tick. It attaches directly to the bag and helps address this shortfall. Storage isn't an issue for everyone so I can see why Mono chose to handle storage in this manner. After spending a few minutes with one of these cases you will understand why so many professional musicians use Mono products. Personally, the level of protection provided with this case justifies the price. Just be prepared to buy a Tick or come up with some other storage solution.
