Buckle is too heavy causes dings

The buckle on this strap is heavier than it looks in the pics. I'm pretty sure it caused a few dings on my guitar (despite being careful). I have added some hockey tape to the buckle to prevent this but disappointing as these were my first dings on a new guitar.
