Three familiar spirituals combine with a newly composed refrain to create a delightful medley. Each spiritual is heard independently, then partnered with the refrain, and finally, all three are sung simultaneously at the end with wonderful textures and tone colors. “There's an Old Song” references the timelessness and simplicity of spirituals, their appropriateness for today, and their ease of singing, especially by young voices.
