Affinity Strat - Black

Dressed in new, eye-popping finishes, these Fender-designed Stratocaster guitars have a great look and feel. With a contoured alder body, bolt-on maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and late '60s headstock, three single coil pickups and standard tremolo system, the Affinity Series Strat guitar has all the vintage vibe at a fraction of the price.

This guitar is great for beginners! It will stay in tune even when you do a dive bomb. It sounds great. The tremolo bar nice and long. Overall, I would suggest this guitar for you.

I have a 2016 Affinity Made in Indonesia, it's not bad, but once you start really getting into the guitar you do notice the flaws, The components are of not the highest quality but there is loads of decent aftermarket components out there, I know if you invested some money into a Affinity Strat new pickups electronics, machine heads, strings, the guitar would be brilliant, That is sums up the Affinity, the neck I have on mine is brilliant I would say the Affinity has loads of potential with the right components to be a killer guitar,

This is my first ever electric guitar and is great for any bedroom players or for a backup. It doesn't have amazing tones but isn't surprising for the price. This is a great guitar if you are on a tight budget.

I think the poster below must have got a lemon. The Affinitys I have played have been very good for the money. They use cheap components of course, but overall they can outshine guitars many times the price. I upgraded mine a bit and it plays fantastic now. They are designed for the beginner but there is no reason why they can't be used by players of all levels, including pros like Jack Pearson for one.

I bought this guitar and after two months I brought it back. It would not stay in tune regardless of what I did...Change strings, adjust it, have it set up...you name it, I had it done. Save your money and get something else. they are simply not as good as all these reviews would have you believe. When I got it the tuning keys needed to be tightened down and the bridge adjusted and still this things would not stay in tune. The tuning keys were "loose" and needed to be replaced. I'm sorry...but anyone who thinks this is a great guitar is just plain wrong. Spend a few hundred more and get a Godin or Epiphone and be happy.

I'd like to echo the sentiments of the poster below. This is not just a beginner guitar. I have played for more than 40 years, and absolutely love this instrument. Pros use them too: https://www.youtube.com/watch'v=GfXirZduo0o. Fit and finish on mine is immaculate and high quality. Pickups, electronics and tuners could be upgraded but that's it. Mine is made in Indonesia so I can't speak on other locations. Highly recommend.

Got this for my son a few years back when dollar was at par so it was $180. Unbeatable value. The neck feels amazing. Came set up perfectly from the factory. Over 2 plus years have noticed some issues with the pickup selector but otherwise perfect quality. As much as I love this, if I could go back I would spend the extra $ and go with the classic vibe series. But for a first guitar this is amazing.

For the comment below: first of all this IS a real Fender guitar. Check out the headstock. Anyway I was quite pleasantly surprised at this guitar when I tried it out. I have owned my American Standard teles in my day and found the fit and finish of this Squier to be equal or better than some of my other Fenders. I think the cheaper electronics make this more inexpensive, but they can be swapped out with ease. Another point I'd like to make is that these Affinity models are made in Taiwan, not communist China - huge difference. Taiwan is a democratic country and pays decent wages. Just a side note. But back to the guitar: It plays extremely well. The neck is fast and fits my hands perfectly. The neck pocket on mine is tight, no gaps whatsoever. The tuners hold pitch very well. This is a fantastic instrument for all players, all levels.

Yes it is only $200.00 so it isnt a real Fender. I have a Mexican strat and it does sound pretty cool and when I play the Squier it sound allright, it could use better pickups. I hate when people compare the two guitars. The Fender is a real pro guitat and the Squier is a beginners guitat.

This is an amazing guitar for the price I can tell you that. As long as you keep the components maintained, I.e. Pickup height, temolo settings, and bow of the neck. This was my first ever guitar and it's gonna be almost three years since I have had it, I believe I got it for my 15th birthday, I am 18 now. Since then my playing style has formed into something that does not fit my strat, I find the scale length to be too long to palm mute. But when I can palm mute I barelly can play the first fret. I love fender for their tone, but I'm leaving fender to my blues/country/slide play. And will possibly go with gibson for their shorter scale length.

I rented this guitar and it was the first electric I had ever rented/bought. Honestly, I didn't think much of the sound quality but maybe that's because lots of people had used the guitar before me or because the amp I used was very cheap and simple. Overall, it was pretty good, I guess.(remember, I'm not an experienced electric guitarist.)

I went into Long & McQuade looking for a $400 to $800 guitar, and tried a bunch of guitars, including various Fender Tele's, Stratocasters, an Epiphone Les Paul, and a Gibson Les Paul Melody Maker. Apart from a $1200 Telecaster, this was the most comfortable and best set up guitar I played. The matte next and fingerboard is comfortable, fast, and ergonomic. The frets are well rounded at the edges and don't buzz. It has a nice clean and crisp sound, and can achieve a wide variety of tones. This is a $200 guitar that feels like one 4 times its price. Outstanding value for your money.

I bought the Affinity Fat strat - having a humbucker at the bridge, and two single coils - this offers a really nice blend of sweet and sharp clean sounds from the singles, and a more warm/edgy sound from the humbucker. I'm going to open it up someday to see if I work in a coil tap with that humbucker (if not I might replace it with a humbucker that can be coil-tapped), but on the whole it's an amazingly playable guitar, great action, great neck, good enough sounding stock pickups to keep me happy for a long time. Inexpensive enough to be worth modifying at some point, but completely an amazing value for the money right out of the box. Personally, I love it for the clean tones... makes me want to seriously get into country music.

The neck is straight, The action is low. the intonation was perfectly set up from the factory. It stays in tune if you don't touch the whammy. The traditional 3 pick up/5 way switch gives you the signature strat sounds. Really pleased to add it to the quiver.

This guitar for the price is a great deal. I'm learning how to play and this guitar is comfortable and easy to play. The tone pots on mine didn't work but L&M does a free setup on new guitars so i'm having it done as well as getting a bit heavier strings put on it (Ernie Ball 11-48). Overall I am happy with this guitar and will be playing it for a long time to come.

I have been playing for 12 years as of writing this and i can honestly say i absolutely LOVE playing this guitar! I own an american fender strat and its great but the squier can more than hold its own with its ease of play, great tone on all pickups, build quality, style, and lets not forget price! I play all different kinds of music from punk to metal to all kinds of slow rock etc and this guitar works for all of it. It will undoubtedly be hammered on and heavily abused for years to come.

I bought this guitar with a Frontman G15 combo and I was really surprised the quality that this guitar brought me for such a low price. I had this guitar for about three years and it really helped me develop as a player. Only downside was that the low E string would not stay in tune, but that could be fixed by tigghtening the tuning pegs.

awesome entry level guitar, im not sure how much the quality has changed on the affinity strats since i had one. i've never had any issue with these. unlike plywood guitars these WILL NOT fall apart or have extreme amounts of ware after a year of playing. if you are starting out or looking to see how you like the feel of a strat i suggest you get one of these.

I love this guitar. It has amazing tone with it's good pickups. It is also very comfortable. I am actually surprised at how it sounds at high gain. It is a great guitar for the blues and rock'n. I like to use it for that good old 80s Hair Metal and hard rock and it sounds amazing for that. The best part about it is how the neck feels. I love mine, and I will keep it forever. You can pretty much play anything on it.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
