Great guitar, i have played many electric guitars and this one is verry verry nice. It feels sound and plays great, especially for the price you Cant go wrong. The color is more of a mustard yellow rather than orange. It definately Will need a setup tho as expected with most squiers, wich is no big deal for me. My only complaint is that the electronics are cheaper quality than a higher end guitar and the pickups are definately microphonic when playing with high gain. I would give this guitar a rating of 9/10

I bought this guitar as a "project" guitar so the first thing I've done was to change the pickups despite the fact that the standard ones are not bad at all, mainly the bridge one which was a good surprise. However, the neck required some attention: lots of frets with sharp ends required filling and the action was too high; the neck finishing could be better but at this price point we cannot expect much. I've found a little bit annoying that the color is very different from the picture. I've ordered the butterscotch blonde but my guitar is Orange and the paint covers almost all wood grain. But is still quite cool. Apart these points I am satisfied overall with its quality price ratio. It's a nice guitar and I haven't any complaints regarding its hardware. Sounds good.

Just picked up my Tele at the L&M after two week wait for shipping. Really happy with look of guitar, though it is not exactly as pictured. Was expecting full wood grain body but the butterscotch lacquer hides any grain. Action was good, but immediately had to take it for full set up (extra $$), as tuning would not hold and frets definitely needed some attention. Will see how it sounds when I get it back, but likely still good value for price ($329+GST).

Bought this as a "project" guitar. Took it to 12th Fret and got Fender Vintage noiseless pickups installed. Brought it home and sanded a belly cut in the back and an arm easement on the front, a la a Strat. The wood was super soft, didn't need a power sander, just a sanding block! Only other part to change out would be the switches, pots and tone knobs. So why not buy a new Tele that already has all these upgraded elements? Well I'm at about $600 right now with this one, but it's customized to my liking. SUPER lightweight, less than 7 lbs. (body depth is less than a standard Tele by quite a bit). Plays like a $2000 Tele and sounds every bit as good with the pickups I put in, noiseless so no hum AT ALL. Would have to pay much more for this feature on a regular Fender. Frets needed dressing as one other review says. Took a file and smoothed them off on the ends - problem solved!

I have been playing for years and my love for guitars far exceeds my talent at playing them. I own a MIA Strat which I love. I know I am going to spend the money on a nice Telecaster, down the road, as well as on a Les Paul. But not now. Today, I walked in the store thinking I would spend $700+ on an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Pro, a beautiful guitar for the price. I tried a few of them but didn’t have that « a-ha » moment. I was about to leave when I walked by this gorgeous butterscotch blonde Tele. I must say, it looks fantastic. Noticing the cheap price ($259) and the fact is says Squire on the headstock, I thought: « Meh! ». But it looked so good and all components seemed to be of good quality. I decided to give it a try. Well that was it! Neck is incredibly comfortable (arguably more than my MIA Strat to me. A little chunkier, which I like. I don’t know if it’s just one in a thousand, but this one had a spot-on set-up (low action), the fretwork is unbelievable with no harsh edges sticking out, and it immediately felt to me as if it was an old faithful guitar I had played-on for decades. I a/b’d it with Its MIM Player Series counterpart and couldn’t believe how much more confortable I felt playing the Squire. I then thought: well the pick-ups are probably garbage at that price. I plugged into a Fender Blues Jr. IV and couldn’t believe how good it sounded. I couldn’t get this grin off my face. Long story short, it replaced my Strat on my bedroom guitar stand and I can’t put it down! This level of quality, playability and value at that price is unmatched!

I bought this as more of a wall decoration. I own 2 EVH and a Charvel currently. I’ve owned very expensive guitars in the past including a Les Paul Custom and Tom Anderson T but I live in a shady part of town and never felt comfortable owning them. I originally bought this, stretched the strings, tuned it, and played it for 3 minutes before hanging it on the wall. I ended cutting my left ring finger right on the worst spot for a guitar player and ended up not touching it for three weeks. It was perfectly in tune when I started playing again. Tuners stick but maintain tuning. Neck pickup is muddy, and for my ears, useless. Everything else about this guitar is fantastic. The neck is smooth and fast, the bridge pickup rocks the casbah, it looks amazing. I’ve been disappointed numerous times playing higher end guitars. The cost versus performance ratio is not there at all. Honestly, this is an outstanding value, if you can get past the “Squier” on the headstock. I can now, I couldn’t before, and that was an expensive lesson. This is a fun, no bullsh*t guitar. Cheers!!

I bought a butterscotch Tele off the floor at another music store. $217 tax included. Spent another $100 to have it filed down and set up proper by a luthier. The 3 way switch and knobs are cheap. But it sounds and plays great! I put Ernie Ball slinky's on it. The value is monstrous. Love this guitar.

I bought this guitar at my local Long and Mcquade last summer and absolutely love it. The pickups in this are amazing quality, and everything was fairly set up right out of the box. The gorgeous maple neck is fast and very accessible. A couple things that could have been done better was the assembly job. The fret ends were sharp and needed filing. The neck pocket is just a 1/16 of an inch off, so there is some space where the neck meets the body. The saddle screws on the bridge are coming loose quite easily, but that is a very easy fix it just gets annoying after a while. Other than that, no concerns at all. It plays, sounds, and feels like a MIM guitar, with a killer price. The electronics are spot on, which you dont normally see in Squiers. All round playable and amazing guitar. Great job Squier.

I bought this guitar because I didn't want to take my Vintage 52 reissue out to some of the sketchy places one ends up playing in. I unboxed the guitar expecting to have to fix a lot of things to get it up to speed, I was wrong this guitar was set up to an almost Pro standard. The fret wire ends are below flush and filled then sanded before a thin layer of clear is applied, bridge radius and height was good, intonation was 80 percent there, pickup height was set. This is not the affinity Tele it's neck profile is U shape like a 70's Strat neck finish is not heavy poly that you have to sand off. Pickups are reversed wound for noise cancelling. Played the guitar stock through a DSL15l to check it's rock tones and was getting Jimmy's Led Zep 1 tone no problem cuts great. Buy one you won't regret it .

Bought this guitar before the Canadian dollar sank to raise the price and am deeply moved when I just catch the look of it out of the corner of my eye. The grain, the clear blonde, the light pearly maple color of the neck...the gold not black decal.(different than pictured)...all beautiful to me. This is the guitar that I first played chords and simple solos with.. This is a tele just like the tele's I admired from youth 'til now. I experience it as a very responsive instrument. The only neg. is that the jack plate assembly cracked and popped out so I'll get a pro to fix it...I play it as is...no problem...a very inexpensive part. Otherwise I learned how to file the burrs from the fret ends, and raise the pups which perfected the action to improve clarity and volume of sound...all normal procedures. Only 4.5 because of the cracked plate which actually may have been caused by an extreme hot to cold to hot temperature change this spring. So, its all music, all tele and I love it because it sounds great.

First week, literally played it until my finger bled - fret ends were sharp and needed sanding. Plastic nut was loose and dulled the tone - replaced. Plastic input jack cover broke - replaced. Pickup selector switch flimsy, cut in and out - replaced. But the guitar has naturally good tone unamplified and it feels good, makes one want to play it, and that's ultimately what it's about. Worth upgrading.

Bought it recently as my Gibson was lacking the sounds I wanted out of it. This telecaster has been amazing so far. Had to tighten up a few things, but honestly for $269 getting out the screw driver is not a big deal. Recommend for someone who wants sound for a reasonable price.

I was looking for a cheap guitar to play around with in the house without bugging the missus. I arrived at the store with half an hour to spare and quite frankly, rushed around trying to find a suitable axe in that short time frame. Tried some rinky dinky Epiphone plus some others, but the action was too high, etc etc..... With five minutes to spare I spotted this Squier out of the corner of my eye. It sounded nice so took the plunge. When I got it home I couldn't believe the quality of this guitar for the price. It plays beautifully for me and it looks spectacular. The sound is awesome, even through a Marshal micro amp! Do yourself a huge favour and get one. I've owned some very expensive £3,000 + hardware in my time and this is up there with them.

Bought this guitar for my daughter since she now want's to go electric. Great little starter axe for her, and we've both been using it along with Rocksmith 2014 and having great fun. I had to file the edges of the frets a bit, but other than that it was good to go right out of the shipping box. I'd recommend this to anyone that wants to introduce their kids to an electric gutar.

Bought this for my daughter. Was nice out of the box with very good action. I had to do the intonation, and you really should file the edges of the frets. Once I did this it's a fabulous sounding nice playing guitar. I bought this for my daughter since she wants to go electric now. We're both using Rocksmith 2014 with this guitar and it's loads of fun.

I wouldn't have looked at this guitar if it wasn't for the reviews (thanks for all that submitted). I am very pleased. Arrived packaged nicely no shipping damage. The tone is truly awesome and paired with my G-Dec creates great sound. Intonation was slightly out but with the six saddle set up easy peasey to correct. Slight adjustment to the string height as well but thats just me being picky. Would probably do it for any guitar I bought. Would highly recommend for anyone!

Purchased this in large part due to the positive reviews and I am not disappointed at all. I love this guitar despite a few minor little annoyances. I raised the string tree a little to make the E and B string angles more like the others and it helped reduce the binding when bending those strings. Also the screws in the saddles for string height aren't snug and consequently vibrate out of adjustment and buzz periodically. The neck is good and the sound is surprisingly good. The saddles, switch, and output jack are cheap but the guitar is cheap so that's to be expected. The nut could use some filing but I think that's the case with most guitars. The tuners seem OK but some better saddles will be in the offing eventually. Overall for the price I am very happy with this guitar and would recommend it. I'm not a good player but I've owned expensive guitars over the years and thus have some idea what good guitars are like and this one for the price is really good.

I bought one in '05 as a backup to my strat. I've since upgraded the pickups/electronics and done fret dressings and regular maintenance. It's no longer the $179 guitar I left the store with, but a solid workhorse of a guitar for <$500 nonetheless.

When i first played this guitar i knew i hade to have it. I was amazed to see it was a cool $180. I mostly use it for pratice,It is ideal for blues and counrty but if you push her she'll give you a good hard rock tune. The hardware is nice, you string it thru the bridge and not thru the body like most teles. The pick ups are good, nothing fancy, the bridge has a bit of a roar to it. all in all a great axe for the money. If your looking for a guitar that plays nice, looks nice, and is light on the wallet i would highly recommend this Guitar

I thought I was a tried and true Gibson player. Got a Blueshawk with the R90 pups and started exploring the world of single coil. NEVER would've thought I'd buy a Tele but also knew a Strat was not the way to go(prior owner). Some misgivings in the purchase...$180..c'mon...how good could it be? It is a blast! It is fun, it is twangy and I find myself reaching for it above the Les Paul more often than not. Yes, the pups need balancing but that's just a height adjustment. Yeah, I get an ear to ear grin playing the Blueshawk but this Tele always brings a smile to my face and makes me want to play. What more could you ask for?

i own this guitar and i can honestly say its definetley worth the money, my new go-to guitar. sounds good in any genre, but really shines when playing blues and classic rock. i gave it a 5 for features, because come on guys .. its a tele, bare bones, straight down to business, but thats what counts and doesnt reflect on the quality a 9, just because it had too small strings for my liking. value 10, because it plays just as good or better than 900$+ guitars ive owned. sure plays better than an ibanez RG i had once. overall, the guitar is super fun, bought it orginally to toy around with for blues, but next pay its getting some hot rails or texas specials, and sperzel tuners. recommend for any new player, or someone whos a veteran player looking for something different that'll def suprise you

My Son bought me this Guitar for my B'day. I have always spoke of my desire to own a Tele. I play very little of late, but this lil Gem of a rig has rekindled the desire. It was bought with that in mind over a "real" Telecaster and i am so glad it was. I run this Guitar through a 100watt Randall Head over a Marshall 4x12 half stack. The only things i have done to the guitar is put on a shade heavier gage string and darkened the neck (wasn't to keen on the pastey white look.) Now the neck has a faded maple look closer to the Butterscotch body color and looks AWESOME on the stand (is that still a word used?) All in all this guitar is perfect for someone who plays sporatically but wants quality at an affordable price point.

my ratings take into considerations the price. Setup was only alright. Fret edges were sharp. Neck pickup was actually pretty nice with a bit of tone rolled off. I hated the bridge pickup...very thin and ice-picky...but then I am using it with a blues jr. which is quite bright to start with. With a bit of filing on the fret edges and a DIY set up (easy to do yourself...just check the internet and youtube as to how to set up a guitar)the guitar was then playing really nicely.(almost as nicely as my USA G&L)The neck of course is not as stiff as the G&L, but plays very nicely. I replaced the pots, wiring and switch with quality american pieces ( cheap when ordered together) and then replace the pickups with Bill Lawrence pups which have great sound and are very reasonably priced. My entire investment was under $300 and now it is a very nice playing and good sounding guitar. I liked it so much I thought I would try another, so I bought a used mexican neck and a USA standard body with electronics, added some locking tuners, and to be honest it is collecting dust. I figured the american body and electronics would have been much better...wrong. The squier is lighter, sounds better and is just a joy to play. I may have been lucky to have a well cut nut, but I have no problems with the stock tuners. Overall, this is just an awesome tele, (even stock) for someone who wants to get their feet wet playing a tele. for years I have thought of teles as being "cowboy" guitars, this little baby has made me a big fan. I can't do the chickin pickin thing, but for blues and rock its awesome. Recently I have found interest in jazz (very new to me and not easy) but in the neck position with tone rolled back about 70% it actually has an very good jazz sound) the full bodied jazz box will have to wait. resale value will be low because of the name, but with its low price that doesn't matter. It truly is a basic guitar,as are most teles. with a possible pickup upgrade there will be little difference unless you are willing to spend much more. Afterall a guitar is not much more than wood with a bit of wire and metal. Highly recommended for someone who is interested in doing a bit of tinkering.

I like to take guitars off the shelf and play them before I look at the price and try to guess there value. Try this sometime as its a great way to find a good guitar. I knew it was a squire so it had to be inexpensive but it played and sounds better than my Fender deluxe US model. I cant believe it was only $180 cnd. You probably think I have a tin ear and you may be right but to me this guitar is a gem. I thought I would buy it and modify the crap out of it but with the exception of the 3 way switch and knob I wouldnt touch a thing. This guitar has me questioning a lot of conventional thought about wood qualities ect. It defies conventional thinking about what makes a guitar great. It made me realize I have a lot of misconceptions about what makes great tone in a guitar. Try one yourself but clear your bias against it being cheap first. I hope you are as pleasantly surprised as I was. Good luck and I hope this review helps someone in finding a good guitar. Email me if any questions or comments. Sincerely Fatcat

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
