Fully Active Aluminium 3.5" Woofers & Ferrite Magnet System
Optimised using ADAM Audio's state-of-the-art Klippel measurement system, the extremely symmetrical voice coil and ferrite magnet system help minimize unwanted distortions and provide a linear motor for the woofer. Each one-piece concave cone is made of ridged, thick aluminium with a long linear excursion range which delivers uncoloured sound even at surprisingly high output levels.

The D3V is a fully active design with four individual amplifier channels and DSP-managed crossover. The woofers are powered by 80W amplifiers with the link cable carrying an amplified signal to the right speaker.

D-ART Tweeter
A quarter century of ribbon tweeter research and development has led to the creation of ADAM Audio's highly capable 1.5" Desktop Accelerated Ribbon Tweeter. Each diaphragm is hand folded and glued with 40W amplifiers driving each unit. Like the rest of ADAM Audio's tweeters, the D-ART incorporates crossover fine-tuning which is managed by highly accurate DSP.

Passive Radiators
The D3V employs dual-sided passive radiators on each speaker for a total of four per system. Each radiator consists of a stainless-steel plate as the moving mass, and a specially stabilised long-stroke rubber surround for the suspension. Together they reinforce the lowest possible response of the loudspeaker through their interaction with the main woofers, as well as contributing toward the overall SPL of the system.

Direct USB-C Input
The D3V represents ADAM Audio's most convenient monitoring system thanks to the inclusion of a plug'n'play USB-C input. The loudspeakers behave as a digital output device when connected to a computer, mobile, or tablet, which negates the need for an additional audio interface. This direct digital connection facilitates high-quality audio playback without the compression or conversion normally associated with desktop monitors.

DSP Room Acoustics
On the backplate of the left speaker you can find three switches to counteract the typical acoustical issues that arise from speaker placement. "POSITION" refers to the fixed position of the loudspeaker in the room. "DESK" refers to the size of the desk in front of the loudspeaker, while "ROOM" refers to the amount of acoustic treatment in the space in which the system is being used.

Balanced Analogue Inputs
In addition to the USB-C input, the D3V features analogue inputs for traditional audio applications. It allows for balanced connections to audio interfaces as well as direct connections to all kinds of hardware including synthesizers, drum machines, samplers, and DJ mixers. The USB-C or balanced analogue inputs can be toggled by pressing the volume knob on the left speaker.

Headphone Output, Monitor Stands & Mounting Options
Functionality and convenience played a major role in the design of the D3V. The front-facing headphone output automatically takes over audio playback when connected, while detachable monitor stands angled at 15° are also included. Additionally, there is a standard threaded 3/8" hole for microphone stand mounting on the underside of both monitors.

Injection-Moulded Cabinet
The D3V's cabinet is made of high-grade injection moulded ABS Polycarbonate, with thick walls and plenty of bracing to avoid vibrations and unwanted resonances. The rounded shape reduces unwanted sound diffraction at high frequencies, while also paying tribute to ADAM Audio's long-standing industrial design heritage.

Big disappointment. Definitely one of the weirdest sounding speakers I've ever heard. The output level is very low. And it almost sounds as if the speakers are pointed away from me; muffled, directionless, and excessively muddled in the low mid-range especially. I realize the graphs show them to have a very flat curve, but quite honestly, that's not at all what my 'human' ears' are hearing. I can only deduce that their side panel resonators are playing a large part in this. I've only tried them in one location, the location I specifically bought them for, which is to serve as near-fields at my computer/audio workstation, where other desktop speakers (Cambridge Soundworks), have a well balanced sound and image remarkably well, and have served me admirably for over twenty years. I bought stands for these Adam speakers so I could locate them in the optimal position in terms of height, depth and distance apart. EQ-ing them helps somewhat, but since they need to work with more than one computer running different OS's and different software, globally EQ-ing them to be different from my other monitoring devices, would make things cumbersome, and a headache I really shouldn't have to put myself through. I've been setting up sound systems in countless different environments for about the past 60 years, and I've hardly ever had to resort to EQ-ing monitors just to try and get them to sound normal. In all that time, I can only recall a handful of times I could describe the sound as too weird to waste my time with. But I'm sorry to say, these Adam D3V's are just plain weird.

I have used both 5 and 7 inch sized monitors in the past and while they sounded very good, they all were quite large and their best sounds were at higher levels. The D3V's produce a very flat and pleasing sound however you can push the frequencies if needed. also for the price they are the best sounding monitors of any size in my opinion.

They have an incredible low end for the size! The highs are well-detailed, and at low volumes, the tweeters seem to shut off, so I get only mids, which is pretty nice if I do say so, (I don't know if it's the norm for Adam Audio). The 399$ price is very attractive, and for monitors of this quality, it is well worth the investment.

These are fantastic sounding monitors for both audio production and casual listening! Detailed highs yet not fatiguing, accurate response, and the amount of bass and low frequencies they can produce for speakers of this size is incredible! The fact that they have both balanced inputs and USB audio built right in is a must-have feature for versatility. Other monitors at this price point don't have that yet, and these are an incredible value, very happy with my purchase!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.

Great Additions
