The H4 is EMG's best-selling passive humbucker for guitar. Combining the power of the active 81 with the soul of a Classic Humbucker, this pickup delivers a well-balanced tone with tight bass response, glassy mids, and crunchy highs. These tonal characteristics are achieved through over-wound coils loaded with ceramic bar magnets, fully shielded to minimize noise.

I purchased a set of the H4 and H4A for a squier affinity tele deluxe that I have, this was about 5 years ago. I knew I wanted EMG's but I didn't really like any of the actives that I had tried... I ordered the pickups the same day as I bought the guitar, they showed up about two weeks later and I had them installed... Instantly better sound and clarity, especially for high gain, but they really hold their own in any genre. Super clear, slight compression kinda like an active but not super squishy. I love these things. I just got another set for a different build! Seriously... try these.
