This arrangement of a classic Irish folk melody has been brilliantly set by composer/arranger Jack Wilds. The Foggy Dew is an old, Irish folk song. The melody seems to have first been composed for the lyrics to a love song. During a brief uprising in the early 20th century, it was repurposed into a revolutionary marching song, which is the form it usually takes when sung today. My treatment of the tune reflects this transformation by shifting through a variety of moods.
