The evolution of this chart is epic! It grows from a whisper to a roar, with everything in between along the way. Think Gordon Goodwin meets the Bunny Hop with some musical zaniness built in.

Hi there thanks so much for checking out this chart. This is a classic blues form with a few humorous twists and idioms that I hope your band and audiences will chuckle along with.

The rhythm section should always be driving. Study the great shuffles of big band jazz like "Blues in Hoss' Flat", "Don't Get Sassy", "Smack Dab in the Middle", or "Vine Street Rumble". The Drums are unapologetic, strong, and driving along with the Bass. Stay on top of the beat!

The clipped shuffle rhythm that appears throughout can be humorous! Exaggerate the articulations. Short shorts, and long longs. Stattacos on quarters should be short and clipped (Buddy Rich length) and the marcatos (housetops) should be slightly fatter and longer (think DAHT).

I'm a big fan of Gordon Goodwin - of course the clipped articulation came before him, but his "Count Bubba's Revenge" certainly had a big influence on this chart. The half-step/whole step motives should be strong and come through the texture, like measure 35-36, 64-65, and a couple of other sections. Solos can be open for any and anyone. Play the blues!

Measure 79 is the classic old-school swing band routine of playing it medium, then soft, then really loud. The soft can be VERY, very soft. If you want, repeat again and even go softer!

That's all I've got hope you enjoy and have a good time!

-Drew
