These new style plugs have a hard time with normal sized cable, such as regular microphone cables. If the overall diameter of the cable is less than 1/4 inch or if it is soft squishy rubber they will cinch OK, but up with some effort. Anything larger than that or any vinyl-jacketed 1/4 inch cable will give you grief.
