Gibson Pick-up Burstbucker Pro Lead - Nickel

Votre prix: $175.00 CDN

Although I can't speak for the other types of Burstbuckers out there now, but I can against 490T/498Ts and 57 Classics. These are better. They are hotter with more pronounced midrange and gain. I think Gibson was trying to modernize their PAF to compete with the typical hotter Seymour Duncans and Dimarzios. They were easy to adjust and not hard getting good output. I have these as standard on a 2013 Les Paul.

I have these in a 2002 Les Paul Standard and they are just incredible. Classic PAF tone with a bright top end, slightly scooped mids and a clear bass response in the low end of the EQ. They cut through amazing and cover so much tonal range, especially when paired with good quality pots in the guitar.
I have used some humbuckers in a Les Paul and at times the neck/front pickup can be very muddy, but these retain way more clarity thanks to the alnico 5 magnets which tend to be brighter. Even with a good amount of overdrive, chords can still sound 'crunchy'. I would recommend lowering the neck pickup if you want a more a 'mellow' sound. It will nail all the clean jazz tones, especially with your treble knob rolled back.
These pickups also very much shine in the middle position. Huge range of tones just by turning the volume/tone knobs. I was able to dial in a ridiculous range of good guitar tones in the middle position. I struggled to find a bad sound.
Having said all this, I don't think these pickups are ideal for super high gain metal or rock. You have to use a boost or overdrive pedal in front of your amp to get more distortion. However, these pickups are definitely great for clean jazz, blues, country, indie and classic rock and up to late 70s/80s hard rock/classic metal.
The rear/bridge pickup has tons of clarity, crunch and 'bite'. Excellent for lead tones and crunchy rhythm sounds. I've never really liked a position bridge clean tone, but if you roll the tone back, it becomes quite usable and less shrill/bright.
Overall I would definitely recommend these pickups, they are expensive, but worth it.
