The BBC Radiophonic Workshop was, for 40 years, the source for the "sound of the impossible," creating music and effects for BBC productions like Doctor Who, The Goon Show, and The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. This new sound library reanimates that legacy with unprecedented access to the archives from its home at Londons Maida Vale studios. The library is a deeply sampled exploration overseen by Workshop archivist Mark Ayres and features performances from remaining Workshop members and new collaborators. It offers an instrument for the future while preserving a unique period in British electronic music (1958-1968).
