I wanted a Les Paul with P90s. I was considering this EPI and a 2013 Gibson Les Paul 50s Tribute. I found the Gibson at a Canadian on line retailer $250 more than the EPI. I picked up both guitars with the intention of returning one of them after a thorough comparison. The EPI finish, fretwork is definitely superior to the budget Gibson, the EPI neck is much thicker than the Gibson, but thinking I could get use to it. The Gibson neck was thinner but more had rough fret edges, the EPI neck is smooth, the big difference is the puckups. The EPI pickups are OK but the Gibson P90s were great, more dynamic with lots of complex tones. Thinking I will keep the EPI because of the superior finish level and I can easily upgrade the pups and still be cheaper thsn a rough Gibson.

Great guitar at a great price. Thought the neck would be thicker. A 60s profile not a late 50s. The build quality is great. The pick guard edge was a bit rough. Setup fairly well from the factory. The pickups are great. I have a lot of guitars at all price ranges and I put this near the top of my list. The guys at the PG store are awesome. I visit there often and buy a lot of gear there.
