This piece imagines an idyllic few moments on a lazy Sunday, spent rocking in a chair on the front porch as an impending rain storm looms. Inspired by the composer's experience as an Englishwoman visiting New England.

Program Notes
As an Englishwoman who recently spent time in New England, I'm fascinated by the traditional American front porch, complete with rocking chairs. This piece imagines an idyllic few moments on a hot, lazy Sunday, with those rockers gently swaying as a family passes the time of day on their porch. Their voices blend in quiet conversation as the world and time slowly go by. Spots of rain are hinted at, as are minor tensions in the discussions, but ultimately, nothing disturbs the overall tranquillity.

"Sway" is a Grade 2 piece in 4/4 and is in G major. It uses gentle slurs and hooked bowings to help enhance the musical phrasing. There is also a small amount of pizzicato in each part.
