A work of remembrance, written to honor a late loved one. Inspired by the verse from Mark 5:34 "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease."

Program Notes
"Go In Peace" is a work of remembrance, written in honor of my mother after her passing from cancer in 2021. Her favorite Bible verses are Mark 5:8 and 5:34, the latter of which states, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be healed of your affliction." This inspired not only the title but also the spirit and shape of the music itself.

The piece is built on the intervals of a perfect 5th and octave (perfect 8th), inspired by the verse number 5:8. This also complements the natural perfect 5th tuning of most String instruments. Themes return a fifth apart, weaving resonance and unity throughout. The music encourages students to focus on expressive playing, lyrical phrasing, and simple shifts, all within a familiar tonal framework.

Among my compositions, this one is closest to my heart. It is a vehicle for student growth in expression and musicianship while also being a tribute to my mother, whose support gave me the strength to pursue my dream of being a musician. "Go In Peace" blends heartfelt inspiration with approachable writing, offering students the chance to grow expressively while honoring the enduring power of music to heal and inspire.
