Program Notes
Attack of the Yeti is an exciting winter journey for young band commissioned by Del Hubers for the 2025-2026 Brandon Valley Intermediate School 5th Grade Band in Brandon, South Dakota. I was incredibly excited to be offered this commission by Mr. Hubers, who is a well-seasoned band director with over four decades of experience! He asked me to compose an engaging piece for his musicians with a winter theme, yet not using any of the traditional Christmas or holiday jingles that are often arranged. Thus, this piece came to be!

I was inspired by the yeti, a mythical creature said to inhabit the snowy Himalayan mountains of Asia. Often known as the abominable snowman in folklore outside of Asia, the yeti is known as a large, intimidating, and elusive creature, with much debate and controversy associated with its supposed existence. However, some swear to have seen the creature, and many who claim to have seen it find it hard to forget!
