After playing this bass in two different stores, I chose mine from the North Vancouver store. I have 3 Ibanez basses already but am confident that this one will retire my other fretted basses! The fanned frets took no time at all to get comfy with. Most of them are in line of site anyway and play as normal as standard frets. The long scale length requiries more tension and results in a slightly tighter feel. The purity of tone is outstanding due in large part to this scale length. As a guitarist as well as bassist, this bass allows me to practice both disciplines on a single instrument. The Active/Passive feature is a real bonus allowing me to pre-set solo EQ settings. This is a wonderfull bass!

I have owned this bass for just under a year now and it is a beautiful instrument to play. The fanned frets are actually quite easy to get use to as the multi scale function is for ergonomic and intonation purposes. I have the grey stained version and it looks gorgeous. The one thing that doesn't make this review perfect is the electronics. Unfortunately for my bass, the electronics didn't seem to be set properly which has made the instrument hard to deal with as no volume was being produced on passive mode. However, if you make sure the instrument is properly set up to your liking and get a good hard case or hybrid gig bag, this six string bass is a must for fusion players as playability, intonation, and feel of the instrument are perfect. Overall, it is well worth the money but make sure to take good care of it or even get brand new electronics :)

I've owned this bass for just over a year now. All I can say is, WOW! The fanned frets put your wrist in the perfect ergonomic position when you're standing up with it, so no wrist fatigue at all. The passive Bartolinis sound really good, and the active pre-amp give you TONS of tonal shaping possibilities. Mine has a darker stain (second release, I believe?) and the toggle switches are also black, like the rest of the hardware. Much nicer look than what's pictured here. Sound, feel, and just plain looks, this bass is amazing! Only improvement I would like to see is a slightly wider fan on the frets, like on the Dingwall basses, but for this price, I'm not complaining. Well worth the money.
