Wick adjustable cup mutes are among the most versatile cup mutes available on the market today. Whether they are used in solo work, section playing, or with a microphone, the adjustable cup allows the player to create a myriad of sounds without affecting intonation. Made from high quality aluminum, this mute is a must for every brass player.
Q & A
There are currently no questions for this product.
I bought one of these a few years ago. This is what I like:
- Take it apart for easier storage if you have a small case.
- Use it without the cup flange for a straight mute in a pinch, but it doesn't resonate as nicely so just consider it a backup.
- Reasonably in tune
- Price is fair for what you get.
Cons ... This is a big one:
- Unbelievable back pressure.
- It plays too quietly. You must put a lot of air through it to be heard with the band playing.
- Again, just to be sure you got this ... it has a ton of back-pressure. If you are not a fairly strong player, I don't think it is the right mute for you. It will tire you out for the rest of your pieces.
