Some of the world's most prized vintage guitars are made from a West African hardwood called korina. Fender chose this premium wood to fashion the Limited Edition American Vintage '52 Telecaster Korina as an elegantly crafted take on a timeless Fender classic. In addition to the sophistication of its body wood and Blackguard Blonde finish, pure and rich Telecaster sound comes from its dual American Vintage '52 Telecaster single-coil pickups.

Vintage specs , thin coat finish , and an overall very flexible tonal palate via the responsive tonal control/pickup selector. The Korina adds a little warmth , while still capable of that bite tele's are known for. The guitar sounds fantastic clean and crushes when played through an overdriven tube amp. Chicken pick'n to Zepplin in a heart beat. Despite complaints that the Korina adds weight , this is still a very manageable guitar ( I normally play a non-relieved Les Paul ) and is nicely balanced. The straight grained wood grain on the body is subtle and quite nice visually , and the light wood tone lends a more "vanilla" tone to the overall tint of the guitar when compared to the "butterscotch" standard. The neck is beautiful with a light flame finish, and the U profile adds meat, but not uncomfortable - fits beautifully in the hand. The fret work/dressing is top notch- no sharp ends , and no buzzing at a very reasonable and relatively low action for a 7.25" radius fretboard. Fit and finish is top notch, with very little adjustment to suit my needs.Thin coat is beautiful, and despite some complaints that it may be fragile , it should be no problem if kept form extreme temperature swings. I look forward to some aging with the thinner finish , and ironically with respect to the comments on the fragile finish through other reviews/blogs: People pay thousands more for a nitro thin finished relic treatment from the custom shop ! With only 500 LTD Edition AVRI Korina tele's made, this will surely be a desirable guitar in the future - and a bargain at this price point - and I've owned just about everything at some point ! The case that came with it is top notch , and while it doesn't have that vintage vibe to it , it offers protection and security far superior to the tween vintage repro's.
