This was my first mute, it's affordable, and I can get three different sounds/effects from it.
Mine fits quite well and isn't loose. I don't doubt it will need some maintenance eventually because after all: it's only some cork that holds it in place. --- I think it's imperative though, to support it's longevity: that one holds the trumpet by the bell while inserting.
Good purchase. I really wanted to try the trumpet and the Harmon Wow-wow makes learning the instrument at least twice more enticing because of that nifty jazz sound...

I'm a beginner and needed a practice mute and first tried a Denis Wick practice mute. The Denis Wick had too much back pressure for me so I tried most of the rest of the mutes and chose this as my favourite. I love it. I can adjust it for different sounds but it mutes well for practice purposes. For muted playing I will be buying another mute for a different tone. Bear in mind I am a beginner so your experience may be different.

The wow-wow mute is really fun and is great to have for jazz trumpeters. This one in particular sounds great. The only problem is sometimes when I am playing, it falls out and lands on the floor, so I really have to force it in to make it stay. Fortunately it doesn't dent easily. Considering that this mute should last a lifetime as long it is taken care of, it is worth your $50.
