With a Rupert Neve-designed transformer and a class-A biased discrete FET amplifier, the RNDI elegantly balances any instrument signal - whether straight from a bass guitar or from a screaming 100w amp.

RNDI's unique response delivers a powerful and vibrant direct sound capable of reproducing the full harmonic depth of basses, guitars, acoustic instruments, and professional line level sources. With portable, powerful, larger-than-life tone for your instrument and amplifier signals, the RNDI is truly the first standalone DI worthy of the Rupert Neve name.

Features:

• Groundbreaking Direct Tone - where class-A, discrete amplifiers meet Rupert's custom transformers.

• Huge Headroom - the high input headroom of +21.5dBU is capable of handling professional, line level sources without a pad and in speaker mode, the RNDI can handle the full output of a 1000-watt power amplifier (92 Vrms or 266Vp-p).

• Rugged Solid-Steel chassis features an industrial-grade powder coating, and is built to withstand the severe stresses of life on the road.

• Takes All Kinds - the RNDI has immensely consistent performance across a wide variety of sources due to its 2M Ohm discrete FET input and high headroom. In instrument mode, you can even connect a professional line level interface output to "Re-Preamp" a previously recorded source.

• Drive Longer Lines - the low impedance transformer coupled output below 50 ohms is capable of driving long lines with unrivaled high frequency performance.

• 1/4" THRU Output - In instrument mode the THRU output can feed the amplifier input for reinforcement. In speaker mode, the THRU is used to feed the amplified signal to the speaker.

• Best in Class Phase Coherence - excellent at all frequencies, which keeps the sound well-balanced and natural, and is especially vital when blending the direct signal with a microphone capture of the same source.

• Ground Lift switch on the back helps fix any problematic grounding.

• Phantom Powered.

Rupert Neve is a legend in the audio industry, famous for his analogue mixing consoles and outboard studio gear. I have been using the Neve RNDI for the past year on acoustic guitars and MTD 535 bass for live and recording sessions. Compared to the Radial Pro DI, the Neve RNDI has warmth, a very pleasing crisp top end and a punchy bottom end. Almost tube-like without the worries of a tube. The RNDI has a built-in switch where you have the option of connecting it directly from your amp speaker output without blowing the unit. Never used it but nice to know it's available. If you are in the market for other options, there is the Noble or REDDI DI but they are a lot more expensive and not available locally. Overall, the Neve DI is great sounding and reasonable price.

I bought this on sale and was blown away. I read the reviews and wondered how you could get that excited over a DI. I run my sansamp BDDI into it and get the best bass sound I've ever recorded. Great unit you'll always keep. Sounds awesome on my Martin acoustic as well.
