Overall, this is a great buy. The keys are plastic but still good quality and will last a life time if you care for it properly. Also, just a quick note, in the picture it looks black but it's actually a really dark brown. There is cheaper bass recorders out there but this one is overall better quality. The tone isn't shrill (which sometimes plastic recorder can have, but not this one,) but rather a clear, mellow, and sweet tone. I think it's a little overpriced, as it is still plastic, but the quality is 5 stars. I would recommend. The head joint doesn't fit the best, and most of the time it's a two person job to get it of if you left it on for awhile. I got this back in January, and it's held up fine. The case is amazing quality! It's make with very thick materiel and it's padded on the inside. The recorder comes with 1 small jar of cork grease, a neck strap to help support the recorder, (and by the way it's very good) a fingering chart, and a cleaning rod. The recorder has a thumb rest that has a small hole in it so that you can hook the neck strap through. The pads on the keys seal nicely. It sounds so beautiful and well in tune that you almost can't tell it from a wooden bass recorder. Overall, 5 stars and would recommend, but keep in mind it's a bit pricey, but worth it. It's great for beginners or people wanting to play bass recorder.
