Visual Sound is now TRUETONE, and the new V3 Series Jekyll & Hyde has been re-designed from scratch by Weil and RG Keen to meet the demands of today's players. With more flexibility, more great tones, and better construction than any of its predecessors, you're going to love this new incarnation of a historically great pedal.

The distortion channel (a.k.a. "Hyde") is the same great distortion that Hyde was always known for, but with 2 major upgrades. It now includes a Bass knob which interacts with Treble so you can shape your tone precisely. There is also a new Voice switch which allows you to choose between classic open distortion or a more saturated tone.

The overdrive channel (a.k.a. "Jekyll") has changed completely, making it even more compatible with Hyde. Jekyll is now based on Truetone's old Open Road pedal, but with added Bass and Clean Mix knobs.

If you've used or owned a previous version of Jekyll & Hyde, you owe it to yourself to try out the new V3 version.

Features:

• Overdrive and Distortion in one box

• Separate inputs and outputs - use together or separately

• Custom designed Forever Footswitch rated for 10 million hits

• Internal Noise Gate for Distortion channel

• Small, pedal board friendly size, with front mounted jacks. Smaller footprint than 2 MXR or similar sized pedals.

Great pedal, have been using it for over a year now and love everything it offers. From transparent overdrive to fuzz to gritty compressed metal distortion. It's my main OD/D on my board and works great for guitar or bass!

I bought this pedal for my Dr Z Jetta to use for a high gain lead sound and it certainly did what was advertised. Great flexibility but once I set both the channels and switches the way I want I don't tweak it, I just play it and it sounds great.

Had this pedal for 4 months now and absolutely love it. Overdrive can go from a boost to a heavy crunch and bright to nice and warm. Distortion side is heavy and thick sounding with lots of range in its voicing options. There is a noise gate that can be turned off if you like, but shouldn't be necessary. Selectable buffered or true bypass is a nice option too. I really love the separate inputs and outputs also as it provides lots of flexibility for how to configure your pedals around it including changing the order of the OD and Distortion (I prefer using the Distortion for a heavy rhythm sound and boosting it with the OD into the Distortion for leads).

I've been playing my Traynor YCS50 for a couple of months now, and I love it... but I've also been wanting to push it beyond its relatively tame overdrive tones. The dirty channel sounds great with the gain near 12 o'clock and the channel volume near max, but... well, you guys get it. The main problem is that I have very little experience with pedals and such. I figured I'd start with an ol' standby - the Ibanez Tube Screamer 808, but as I did some research, the Truetone (nee Visual Sound) Jekyll & Hyde kept coming up as a very high quality and convincing clone, with the added bonus of having quite a devastating distortion channel thrown in for good measure! I'm loving it! It really is two complete pedals in one box. There are separate ins and outs for each, so you can string 'em up any way you like. I've been mostly playing with them stacked with Overdrive (left side) first, then into the Distortion (right side). You can run them both at the same time too, but it's real easy to create a noisy mess like that. The clean mix on the Overdrive side is really interesting. It allows you to have a certain amount of clean guitar tone get through to your amp - endless possibilities. The Voice switch on the Distortion side is pretty cool too. In position B, it has a nice, clear sing-song kinda sound, but switch it to the A position and you really get (some of) that dual rectifier goodness.

this pedal goes from a nice warm drive to raging metal mayhem; it is a very versatile pedal & a great value, too; worth every penny...

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
