L'AC10 a été l'un des premiers amplificateurs à porter le nom de VOX et a longtemps été adoré pour sa capacité à obtenir un son riche et articulé à lampes à des volumes très maniables. This amp breaks up nicely with just a little gain. I was looking for something that didn't have too much headroom so I didn't have to turn it up too loudly to get a saturated sound when practicing.
Such beautiful tone, with or without saturation. It's great for clean and rock, even a nice and dirty sound for that AC/DC sound.
It's not an amp I would use for metal, in my opinion. I'd go with an EVH 5150 40W for metal.
If you want to be loud at a gig, mic it. It's worth it for that sound.

I play guitar for 40 years and gig live until the age of15 sometimes pro, sometimes for fun.
I had own all the good amps from Mesa-Boogie, Marshall, Rivera, name it to Fender.
My last was, Mesa Road king, Jcm 800 studio, EVH 5150, Mesa dc10 and Marshal dsl 40cr.
I cant be satisfy with all those amps. Always something in the sound that i dont like. JCM 800 was probably the best but was supposed to be a good pedal platform but i had to tweak it everytime i open it.
i was beginning to think i had a mental problem ahah. I finally sell all those amps and read about what was the best pedal platform. I ve found many reviews that talk about the Vox Ac10c1. It said that its enough loud for giging, sound well and easy to carry. I pull the trigger and ordered one used here without trying it.
The only pedal that i had not sell was the sd1 Boss. I was not happy with it with my JCM 800 and other amps.
I plug it in my Vox and........wowwww. Warm crunchy beautiful singing tone. Best tone ever. I have sustain even if this pedal have not enough gain for me.
So, this amp take pedal like a champ! Im not a fan of the vox sound but with pedals its fantastic.
I just ordered a jhs delay and a Dude overdirve for more gain and maybe to stack with the sd1. I will see when it will arrive.
Last thing, the other guitar player in my band have 3 Boogie. He often use an old studio 22 watts and have a fantastic sound with pedals. All this time i was looking for a sound like him and now with the Vox, our tone is in the same area. A bit dark, no bad frequency, smooth, articulate and sustained.
I had paid this vox 525$ used canadian money here. Take a chance, you wont regret it! Sorry, im french.

Rented an AC15 to try out the Vox tone but tried it side by side with one of these. Although it lacks a little bass due to a smaller speaker it gets to the point in much shorter time with not too much tweaking. I crank the Vol nearly full, the gain at perhaps 1, bass on full and treble about 1. The reverb, despite being digital and not spring sounds pretty good, and its at 4. Thats it. It sounds pretty clean but a little midrangy. A Tube Screamer kicks it real nice if one needs to solo or play a dirty rhythm. Like any Vox, no heavy metal here. And not heavy either so very portable.

My biggest problem with my "big" amps is it is hard to get a good sound at reasonably low volume.
I side by sided the AC10 with a few other apps of similar or higher price and power output at L&M Hamilton. It came down to the AC10 and Blues Jr. I already have a couple bigger Fender amps and although the Blues jr fit me like a glove there was something special with the Vox tone. I then did A/B with the AC15 and I found for my taste and needs the 10 was actually preferable. If it was my only amp the 15 or more likely 30 would be the one, but for a practice amp the 10 hits all the checks with only one minor complaint: No f/x loop. I would rather they ditched the digital reverb and put in an f/x loop.
Great for Brian May, the Stones, Beatles etc... cleans up nicely, gets 1960s dirty, takes overdrive pedals like a dream.

Found one used and am very pleased. British sound and Tube tone in smaller package. Would be nice to have headphone jack, however it sounds so good, just have to be aware of my neighbours. Feels louder than 10 watts. Should have lots of pedal potential.

I've owned 2 of these that I bought used. I replaced the stock tubes with tungsol 5741 in v1, tungsol 12ax7 in v1 and tungsol el84 tubes. Took less than 10 minutes to do myself and am very happy with the reduced input gain. This amp is also very warm right off the go which was suprising for a 10" speaker and a very light amp. Would highly recommend to someone looking for a great tube tone in a light compact package. The reverb isnt very pleasant. Keep it dialed below 9 o'clock for best results. Cant be beat for the price and practicality for a great tube sound. Sounds much different than an ac15 or 30. Try one out!

First off, it’s just beautiful to look at - I’ve been hooked on the look of VOX since first seeing pictures of The Beatles on stage circa ‘64. The AC10c1 also has a mighty sound for its size, and size is why I picked it up (My Ac15 got heavier each year I got older). The Master volume lets you drive the tubes into sweet saturated distortion without bringing the house down. The digital reverb gets the job done, just keep the dial around 2-3. The amp seems to like my Gretsch Electromatic Jet best - the two sound huge together. Highly recommended.

I use this amp for rehearsal and small gigs - beautiful clear sound. On stage, use it as my monitor and runs through my Boss ME-80 to a Bose system. Good quality, tube tone with plenty of punch. Would be perfect if it had two channels, but for the price, you can't complain! Highly recommend this amp!

Great amp for practice, recording, small gigs, has that VOX tone, however a little bright, when plugging in a Gretch Hollow Body for jazz, breaks up a bit early so I did the following MOD.
Replaced the 12ax7 tubes with a 5751, JJ. they have about 30% less gain,
and WOW, a LOT cleaner head room, my Gretch, Telecaster, Les. Paul, all sound better with this cheap Mod, and you still get the break up when you dial it up, when you want it.
With this Mod 50.00 I much prefer this amp to the Blued Junior I got rid of.

I've owned my AC10 for two years now. I play mainly blues rock and classic metal. It's nice and loud when you want it but still has good tones when turned right down for apartment practice. I originally used a Les Paul with it but moved over to a Telecaster because it was very noisy with the humbuckers. The Tele works alot nicer with it. My only complaint is the lack of a headphone jack which makes late night practice a bit harder.

cool little amp. fairly loud, great vox chime, takes pedals well, and most important it's super light. I like to boost it with either a rat, or a plimsoul. Or I hook it through my v30 2x12 cabinet to take it over the top. My only complaint would be the reverb could be a little bit better. It's still useable though at low settings. Well done vox.

First one I got had to be returned, the tubes rattled so bad it was completely unusable. The second one I received was perfect. Not a peep from the tubes. This amp has phenomenal Vox tone and at a fraction of the weight of the AC15 I would highly recommend this one for a grab and go amp. Super happy with this one.
