I like to mix my drums down to mono for most beats, and figured I'd try picking this up for the effects send on my Fostex 280 for some parallel compression. It only cost me $40 so i figured it'd be worth the experiment. I was blown away when i ran my first drum mix through it. it's PERFECT for mono parallel drum compression. I know it's not the intended use, but sometimes you gotta bend the rules to get a cool sound, and this is one of those cases where it was 100% worth it.
As for the plastic housing, I really don't care too much about it. I'm not going to be touring with it, so it's unlikely it'd end up damaged from me using it in my studio. For guitarists who play gigs and use their feet for pedals, I can see how the plastic could be a problem, so I guess keep that in mind if you're buying it for that purpose.
All in all, I say pick up this bad boy the next time it's in stock. The only reason why it's cheap is because of the plastic case. The sound is equal to some compressors I've heard up to $200+, pedal or otherwise.

Similar to CS400 review as they are a paired experience. Used this with a CS400 Sustainer to learn signal chain balance alongside pick attack with pickup height. Taught me actual kinesthetic control we're told we can use to not need compression. Under $100 to learn applicable skills, a pedal or 2 CAN make you a better player. As I said dialing in; learning how the hear when the compressors do their thing & when to want them to happen. It sets GUIDELINES on pick attack techniques & is so very helpful for those flutey vibrato accents via volume. I found my PU height preferences, as used with the rest of my gear, from the experience. *Excellent*

For $39 the Behringer cl9 provides exactly what they say it does .it's a decent compression pedal ,especially at that price point and does as well as some of my other ones that cost well over $200 .it can be a bit noisy but then so could my other pedals I'm not too worried. The plastic casings a bit cheap and the way to access the battery is bound to break if you're not careful so use common sense.
