Bought this model last week at L & M after seeing the reviews. I was skeptical initially and thought that the guitar would be like the other Gibson low end guitars of the last 5 years, not worth the $ or time. But I was pleasantly surprised and ended up playing it for an hour or so in the store. Lee Music had it for $100 less, but L & M matched it, no problem. It is well crafted, light, straight necked and classic sounding. I lowered the action when I got home and absolutely no buzz! I guess Gibson Pleck'd system really works. This guitar is bare bones but sounds like the $2000 and $3000 models. A little furniture polish on the fret board and the things looks and sounds awesome. You can't go wrong with this price.

As a big Les Paul fan, I will say that this is one fantastic instrument at any price. Don`t let the low price scare you away! This guitar plays and sounds as good as it`s more expensive relatives. Kudos to Gibson on a great axe at a great price point. Also, thanks to the top-notch team at Owen Sound`s Long and McQuade.

I recently purchased the vintage honey burst. I also own an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Honey Burst, and prior to that I had a Gibson Les Paul Standard Honey Burst. This guitar is great! It sounds awesome, I love the satin finish. I will take that over all high gloss finishes anyday! The finish on the neck is very comfortable without the cold 'squeeky' feel of a high gloss nitro. The weight is very nice. A traditional Solid body Les Paul without chambering is a beast to carry around your neck for a couple hours. This guitar is very comfortable and was one of the first things I noticed and appreciate still. The retro controls like the green tuning keys and top hat control knobs are a great touch. The lack of binding is refreshing too I must say. I feel this is keeping with a modest design. Now, this IS a USA made GIBSON at a reduced price so how is it less expensive? First: no binding, no nitro and no AAA Maple top. That's obvious. The second part which is my only complaint. The frets: These are nasty! The edges are sharp and have not been rounded properly at the edges. Running your hand up the neck feels like a $100 guitar from china. I have to say, I was a little disappointed when I felt this. Compared my Epiphone Les Paul, the frets are smooth with no sharp edges. You can get these addressed, but it will cost you if you don't to tackle it yourself. Obviously Gibson is aware of the man hours involved in this process so it's been skipped and savings passed on to you. Bottom line, I love this guitar. It's beautiful, light weight, and feels nice. Once you get the frets cleaned up, it's a great guitar!

Played many Gibby's over the years. This little baby plays so well and sounds great! I run it through a Traynor tube 50 watt and it sounds amazing. Very affordable and worth every dollar. The Gold finish just jumps out at ya. Great guitar.

I purchased this 50's Tribute Studio Les Paul, and I have to say, I'm very pleased with it. Solid guitar and the tone is what you would expect from a Gibson. I still haven't properly set it up from taking out of the box, but I didn't really have to, plays beautifully right out of the packaging. If you're looking for a fairly priced Les Paul, look no further. Get the Satin Gold finish, looks great on display as well. TIP: Slap on a set of EB Slinky 11's - I feel these guitars perform and sustain better with heavier strings. :)

The best deal around. A U.S. Made Les Paul for $1,049 - amazing! Made out of the same materials as the higher end models, just lacks the binding. Once set-up properly this thing plays excellent. Highly recommended!

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty.

Warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?

Performance Guarantee - normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage.

Product Replacement - if your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.

No Lemon Policy - your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.

Convenient - easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.

Guitar Setup - Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.

Loaners Available - a loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.

Power Surge Protection - your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.

Accessory Coverage - any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.

Commercial Use Coverage - music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty.Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, woodwind pads, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Accidental or cosmetic damage is not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

NEW products: 4% of selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.

USED products: 4% of selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year. Pricing for used electronic products is 4% of the original new selling price.

GUITARS: 4% of selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.

BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: $40 up to $2,000 selling price. BRASS and STRINGS: 2% of the selling price after $2,000. WOODWINDS: 4% of the selling price after $2,000.

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.
