The power and precision of the Japan Les Paul Traditional are unmatchable. This is a purist's LP that plays and sounds as amazing as it looks.

A sunburst Les Paul has been my dream guitar for as long as I can remember, so I took the plunge and got ( I think) the last one of these beauties in Ontario. The quality just blows me away - this guitar looks, feels and plays every bit as good as a Custom Shop reissue costing 3 or 4 times as much. The neck is superb, love the low frets. One thing I didn't see much of in other reviews was people talking about the pickups; maybe I just got a special guitar but the 59 Tributes in mine just roar. Whatever the case may be this guitar sounds as good as the Les Paul's in my dreams. I almost bought this guitar last year and changed my mind. I'm really glad I finally got it - and I feel sorry for the folks who passed up a phenomenal instrument because it was a 2015 or had G-force. Bottom line: Great guitar.

The boys at the Kanata store were great - thx to Ryan the pilot. Love the guitar. Gonna replace the g-force with grovers. Gonna put in a couple of super-distortions eventually. The finish and flame are absolutely amazing, the picture above doesn't do it justice. Intonation & frets are perfect. No string buzz. Really the only issue I have is with the case. The plush on the inside of the bottom half, above the headstock, seems to not have been glued very well, actually coming apart from the wood-- nothing a bit of glue can't fix, but still-- I just spent 2500 bucks on a Gibson, I expect better QC, especially for such an easy fix. All in all I'm really happy that I bought this guitar. If you're considering one of these, GET IT. For such a quality guitar you can't go wrong with the price.

The over-bevelling of the fret ends were the deal breaker for me. The high E string likes to slip off the board way too easily. No binding nibs may account for this. Awesome feeling neck and gorgeous top. The tone pots weren't as sweet as I would of liked but a change in cap would remedy that. The tronics auto tuners are excellent. Hard to imagine that some people avoid purchasing this one thinking it's made in Japan.

Everything silly in 2015; the scribble, the hologram, Brass 0 Fret, and extra wide neck is gone, but you're left you the **easily removable** G-Force system. NO weight relief, no circuit board. The tops seem to have more figure, and despite not being weight relieved mine weighs less than every normal Traditional I played. After looking at the nicely matched back pieces, I'm going to guess this is all about wood selection, lighter more resonant woods could be part of the original retail price being significantly higher than a normal Traditional. 60's Slim taper neck, love it or hate it...They didn't do fret nibs in 2015 either, so you have to live with that. Neck has an almost oval feel to it, as if it has rolled edges (same profile as my other slim taper 60's but much softer fretboard edges), all fret work is immaculate. Action is low; fantastic playability right off the shelf. Acrylic 'Mother of toilet seat" bright pearl inlays are a nice touch, hung beside a Gibson with the regualr yellowish inlays this is noticeable and an otherwise overlooked feature. Bell Knobs and Pointers are appreciated by those who like the '59 vibe, but don't have 6,000$ for the R9. Orange drop caps are good enough that they don't require an upgrade. 59 Tribute's are nice, some of the better pickups gibson has made. Much like the '57's but with some added sparkle and a little less presence. Sounds very nice, has very good sustain, especially considering it has much less wood in the neck than its counterparts. Sloppy fit and finish on the normal Les Paul Traditional bother me, for a 2000$+ guitar to have high action, file marks and/or improperly scraped binding makes me think less of Gibson. The quality of these guitars seems to be on par with the Standard and higher end re-issues, noticeably better than the Studios, Classic's and other normal Traditional's. I've owned a over a dozen Gibson's/Epi's there is no reason that the Chinese can scrape bindings properly and American's can't. Picked mine up during a promo, payed considerably less than what a new 2018 Traditional would have cost me, so if you find the right deal, there is a fair bit of value in the instrument. It's 1/3rd the price of a R9...but a lot more than 1/3rd the guitar for us mere mortals.

Let's get one thing out of the way right now: I've been playing guitar for over 30 years so what I have to say comes from lot's of experience and owning pretty much any high end guitar or amp for that matter. The "Japan" Les Paul is one of the finest guitars I've had the pleasure of owning. By guitars I mean any high end guitar and not only a Les Paul. The workmanship is second to none, the pickups sound extraordinary, and the neck, oh that neck!! What I'm gonna say is, pick one up while you still can. Another reviewer hit it right on: this is as close as you're gonna get to a '59 without paying, well you know the price of those things. Gibson, you have a winner here. If only they can make them all this good.

I have a 2015 Yamano Flame Top. Oh boy. Where to begin? Lol...My favorite feature by far is the fret over binding rosewood neck. No more high E string pings and pinches. A promising upgrade. To long on the making. The tone absolutely kills it. And the fit and finish is stellar.

This guitar was NOT made in Japan. It was made in Nashville but destined FOR the Japan market (the slimmer neck fits better with smaller hands). I own this guitar and it's a keeper. I love the looks, the sound, and the price isn't bad for a quality instrument. Mine had the GForce removed before I bought it. She's heavy both in weight and sound. Grab one!

I was on the hunt for a LP for about a year. I couldn't find the right one with the correct set of features. What is extra awesome about this guitar is that it has no weight relief features. As result it sustains for days. From what I understand this is about as close as your going to get to a 59 spec Les Paul. Also it is made in Japan so the craftsman ship is through the roof. *Note that you need to swap out the G force tuners. It is such a mild issues that it doesn't hurt the guitar. Plus L&M hooked me up a with a free set of grovers because they agreed the G force tuners are garbage.

I've finally played on of these limited edition LP Traditionals. Nice guitar, beautiful flame top at the Burlington L&M store. The particular guitar would have been a real rock n roller. Loved the 59 tributes. It was a solid guitar with a nice amount of weight.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
