Doves in Flight
The Doves in Flight from Gibson Acoustic is the work of renowned master luthier Ren Ferguson, and incorporates the features of the legendary Dove with some of the finest decorative work in the industry. The Doves in Flight displays 28 individually engraved in-flight dove inlaysseven on the headstock, 16 on the fingerboard, three on the pickguard, and two on the bridgeeach with its own original design, and all hand-cut from genuine abalone pearl.

Hand Engraved Gold Grover Keystone Tuner
Grover tuners are an engineering marvel, with abundant style and performance exactly suited for the Doves in Flight. With a gear ratio of 14:1, these beautiful, hand engraved tuners deliver precision tuning in a durable housing that provides maximum protection for the gear and string post. All moving parts are cut for exact meshing, eliminating the possibility of slippage. A countersunk tension screw lets players regulate the tuning tension to any degree, and a special lubricant inside the gear box provides smooth and accurate tuning stability.

Custom, Hand Crafted Doves In Flight Peghead Inlay
The new Doves in Flight from Gibson Acoustic sports a beautiful, hand-crafted design of seven inlaid doves in flight made from genuine abalone and mother of pearl. It is one of the most beautiful peghead inlays on any Gibson acoustic, and is exclusive to the Doves in Flight.

Pickguard
The tortoise pickguard on the Doves in Flight is a custom-made design featuring three beautiful inlaid doves in flight made from mother of pearl, with hand engraved wheat flowing in the wind. As with all Gibsons pickguards, the coloring, inlay, binding, and engraving are all done by hand.

Rosette
A rosette is the beautiful, hand-crafted circle around the soundhole, and can be one of the most ornamental elements of any acoustic guitar. It is also one of the most subtle and complicated woodworking decorations on any acoustic guitar. The rosette on the Doves in Flight is one of Gibsons finest. It is a double-ring rosette with an abalone-filled middle. The main ring consists of seven-ply binding, and the second ring is three-ply binding, adding a stylish, understated elegance to the Doves in Flight.

Ebony Fingerboard with Rolled Edges and Dove in Flight Inlays
The fingerboard of Gibsons Doves in Flight is constructed from the highest grade ebony on earth, which is personally inspected and qualified by Gibsons team of skilled experts before it enters the Gibson factories. The resilience of this durable wood makes the fingerboard extremely balanced and stable, and gives each chord and note unparalleled clarity and bite. Its unique Doves in Flight fingerboard inlays are made of genuine mother of pearl and abalone, and are inserted into the fingerboard using a process that eliminates gaps and doesnt require the use of fillers. The fingerboard also sports a rolled edgeinstead of the usual right angle where the fingerboard surface meets the neck, Gibson Acoustics rolled edges are slightly beveled for an extremely smooth and comfortable feel, enhancing the playability of the Doves in Flight.

Body Tonewoods (back, sides and top)
The body design of the Doves in Flight is known as a square shoulder dreadnought. The top is made from AAA-grade Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are constructed from AAA-grade curly maple, giving the Doves in Flight balanced, clean highs with warm, robust bass tones and overall sweet resonance typical of the square-shoulder dreadnought line. Selecting the right wood, and the formula to dry it out, are two of the most central procedures to Gibsons guitar-building process. Beginning with its first catalog in 1903, Gibson has assured its customers that every guitar would be built using woods with the most durable, elastic, and sonorous qualities, and todays guitars from Gibson Acoustic are no different.

Bracing
Every acoustic guitar made by Gibson features hand-scalloped, radiused top bracing inside the body, a feature normally found only in limited run, hand-made guitars. By scalloping each brace by hand, the natural sound of the acoustic is focused more toward the center of the body, enhancing the instruments sound projection. The bracing pattern inside the Doves in Flight is modeled from design found inside Gibsons vintage J-30s. This traditional pattern gives the Doves in Flight the enhanced treble registers and robust bass tones typical of the square-shoulder dreadnought line. When pushed for more volume, the Dove in Flight projects a natural compression, which helps it blend nicely with any accompaniment.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
